As of now, the 2020 MLB season is currently postponed indefinitely. The MLBPA and the Owners Association are working on a plan to resume play as soon as it is safe for all the parties involved.

Currently, the negotiations have slowed with the decrease in league revenue. With only an 82 game regular season planned with the current proposal the max players would be paid is half of their normal salaries. Originally when the league shutdown the players agreed to their salaries on a prorated basis, however, with the decrease in league revenue the owners want to see the players' salary decrease in relation to the decreased revenue. Since stadiums will not open for fans anytime soon the league loses a significant proportion of their revenue. Trying to make up for this loss the MLB owners have proposed a new financial structure to the players.

The MLB Proposal for salaries is currently:
Full- Year   Proposal
$563.5K.    $262K
$1M.           $434K
$2M.          $736K
$5M.          $1.64M
$10M.         $2.95M
$15M.         $4.05M
$20M         $5.15M
$25M.        $6.05M
$30M.        $6.95M
$35M         $7.84M

The players union currently countered with the full prorated salaries and increased safety measures. As of now, it appears if the season is to start at the rescheduled time  of mid-July, players  will have to take an additional salary cut in some form.
