alcoholism: a bigger threat

The vibrant youth

The youth of 21st century are filled with fun, laughter and joy backed up with a second-hand baggage of “Alcohol and Drugs”.

The present generation lives with an attitude “To experience everything in life”, this zeal to experience everything in life come what may leads them to a rehabilitation centre. More than 40% of the current ratio of youngsters are affected by alcohol and drugs, the only reason to this is because the youngsters today are subservient in a negative way- they are so influenced and enchanted by the idea of getting drunk or doped since their broken conscious forces them to adapt new changes.

According to a study it is proven that Alcohol is a greater danger to youngsters than drugs. The reason to this is the authorities itself. The authorities or the government have made Alcohol legal; due to this youngsters think there is no harm to try once. But they fail to understand the side –effects of it. The reason why Alcohol is most approachable by youngsters of today’s generation is since it is more readily available and obtained easily due to cheap pricing.

The drug peddlers and the people who sell Alcohol are the “ringleaders” who drive youngsters into these habits showing the glittering life of an alcoholic or a doper. The youth of today live in the state of stupor, some only have ambition to get into the “in” group of the college. This ambition often leads to sudden and disgraceful downfall without the knowledge of the individual. The drug transaction is in such a way:

The first visit of a fresher (a person who is not an addict) to the drug peddler is an absolute trick played the peddler. The seller sells the expensive drug at mere rupee five to the fresher. This first deal is no loss for the peddler since he is sure the addiction will drive him back to him, once the fresher is back on the second visit this time he sells the same drug at 50% more than the 1st visit. The same deal goes on increasing till the individual is in such a state he cannot live without the drug.

Alcohol and drugs are the stumbling blocks in a youngster’s life, the addiction to these is not because of the youngsters but it is the authorities who have made alcohol legal and also because of the crime rate in the country and the world where people indulge innocent beings into it.

Today’s vibrant youth can only be helped through guidance before they are the victims of the gold plated plastic coin where alcohol and drugs are the two sides of the same coin.
