The elevator
Topic: Diabolo tricks and moves.

Hi readers, it's Joe again. No surprises, eh?

Anyway, this time I'm going to teach you how to do a cool new trick called, The elevator.

The objective of the trick is to make the diabolo climb the string, by creating tension in the looped string. So this is how you do it.

First get a lot of speed up. Now, loop the diabolo (if not already looped).

Now, bend your legs ever so slightly and then get ready to point the right stick's string end towards the diabolo's axle.

Hold your left stick above the diabolo, horizontally. Now do what i said to do with the right stick.

Now create more tension slowly, until the diabolo starts to climb, after a while of practising you should begin to notice where the point of "climbing tension" is.

The following movies will only play on "Quicktime" you  can download this for free on the internet.

This is the video link for the previous post... Previous

Keep practising,

Joe.

Beginner tricks
Topic: Diabolo tricks and moves.

Some beginner tricks this time. Suns and orbits.

A sun is when the diabolo circles around both sticks, in a clock-like fashion.

A clock-wise sun.

Swing the diabolo to the left over both sticks, now, the string should be crossed over. To undo this, do an anti-clock-wise swing back to the right.

An orbit is where the diabolo jumps from left to right on the string.

An open orbit

Jump the diabolo, slightly tossing it over to the right, catch it with the right half of the string. Repeat.

I'll add a video as soon as my producer/director/cameraman/brother can be bothered to film.

 Keep practising.

Diabolo lessons.
Topic: Diabolo tricks and moves.
Hi. I'm Joe. I'll be your "sensei" in the art of diabolo juggling.  Today is the getting started day. (4 types of starts and two tricks.)

Starts
-------

1. Roll the diabolo along the floor, right to left. pick it up with the string and then start doing tricks.

2. Hold the diabolo above the ground, now, start pulling the right handstick in large jerks. These are called "powerpulls" and I will refer to them as such.

3. Wrap the right handstick's string over the top and out under the bottom of the diabolo. This is called "looping" and I will refer to it as such. Now do some powerpulls, you should find that the diabolo starts spinning more quickly.

4. Now for a combined start. Roll the diabolo, as in 1. Now loop the diabolo. Now start to do a few powerpulls before "unlooping" (opposite of looping) the diabolo and continuing with your powerpulls.

Tricks
-------

Now you know how to start the diabolo spinning lets do some simple tricks.

1. Left trapeze. This is the easiest trick to learn, but it is frustrating when you get it wrong. Get the diabolo spinning. Now, swing the diabolo over your left handstick and catch  it on the string in the middle. To undo this simply swing the diabolo back to a normal position.

2. Trapeze grind. Do a left trapeze. Now, take your right handstick and place it under the axle of the spinning diabolo. Simple as!

Notes
--------
Keep practising and you will get better.
