How I Am Asking You To Help

First, thanks for taking the time to come to my website.

I need you to donate one or more of the following bedding/bath items needed by Plymouth Housing Group to service their residents:

§  Twin sheets (not queen, double, or king as Plymouth Housing Group serves individuals, not families)

§  Pillow cases

§  New pillows (must be in new condition)

§  Bath towels and washcloths

§  Blankets

Used.  If you have any of these items that are used and in good condition, please let me know by email, and I will make arrangements to pick them up from you.  This may be done by a Scout in my Troop if I am out of town.

New.  If you don’t already have any of these items that are suitable for donation, please consider purchasing one or more items and having them mailed to me.  Please go here, where I have links to retailers selling these items at reasonable prices.  I have also included specific links to “pre-selected” items you might want to consider purchasing for donation.

If you choose to purchase a new item, please have it shipped directly to my home address as follows:

Michael Reed McCormack

2553 Medina Circle

Medina, WA 98039

Many of these merchants/stores periodically offer “free shipping”, so keep your eye out for this.  I will try to announce these in the “Updates” section of this website to let you know of these offers.  If you run across a great offer or sale, or a useful promotional code, please feel free to make a note of this in the “Comments/Blog” section of this website so others will be aware of the opportunity.

If you have the time, please drop me an email letting me know what you have donated so I can keep track of everything.

THANK YOU!!

My Project

My name is Michael Reed McCormack.  My home is in Medina, Washington, where I am a member of Boy Scout Troop 430.  For more about me, where I am going to high school, my baseball career, what I am currently up to, and other things about me, click here. The organization I am working with is Plymouth Housing Group.  This is an incredible organization that helps the homeless and extremely low income populations in our community.  Here is a link to their website, which describes everything that they do:  http://www.plymouthhousing.org/

Plymouth Housing Group’s mission is set forth on its website:

MISSION

Plymouth Housing Group works to eliminate homelessness and stabilize homeless and very low-income people in housing by preserving, developing and operating safe, decent, affordable housing, and by providing opportunities for homeless and very low-income people to improve their lives.

This is a very special organization that addresses the needs of people who are often left out of the social programs run by the government.  Given the state of our economy, there are many more people that need our help than in previous times.

In addition to the collection of bedding and bath items for Plymouth Housing Group, I am also conducting a collection drive at Top Foods in the Crossroads area of Bellevue to collect nonperishable food items and personal hygiene items (toothpaste, deodorant, etc.).  This will take place on Saturday, November 21, 2009.  I will be home from school for Thanksgiving break and will supervise the collection effort.  Scouts from Troop 430 will man informational tables during the hours of 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., providing lists and colored plastic bags to help shoppers pick up articles of food and personal hygiene items during the course of their shopping that will be boxed and delivered to Plymouth Housing Group.  Special thanks to Mr. Mark Graham, the Store Manager at Top Foods, for allowing me to use his store to conduct the drive.  If you are in the area, I hope you will be able to find time to drop by and pick up an item or 2 to support this effort, or just to say “Hi”.
