How you teach your children beginning math skills?

We all know the importance of learning to read and developing strong literacy skills in the preschool years and early elementary grades. But what about the mathematical skills. Many few people known the reality about the science underlying early math learning and instructions in comparison to extensive knowledge in the area of early reading. The steps sometimes we refers to when talking about an expression often used to mean ‘learning to read’ that appear to be very different when it comes to math. But there need to be much research before we can say this with confidence. Professional wisdom tells us that successfully early experiences in math have a powerful effect on the interest and confidence, so that young students will bring the new opportunities for math learning. Some teachers believe that providing children a carefully tailored small group instructions together with additional practices, explanation and feedback might be sufficient for many students who are lagging behinds their peers in learning critical foundational skills in mathematics. But for sure, there are many students whose underlying struggles in math learning are due to math disabilities. So we can say that tailoring math instructions in the early years will benefit all children. To help to identify your students who are actually need a special attention in math, teachers need to explore the possibilities of developing a screening tool that will point to at risk behavior and also documents the risk difficulties. So that they can carefully targeted the intentional opportunities for instructions that can be provided to children who show early signs if struggle.


To enhance the young children’s Math Classes Sydney skills, there are some steps which parents and teachers can follow. For example as a parent, you can help your child to count coins and spend them for a treat as a part of family life. You can also teach your children almost anything that is simple enough by just having fun with it and they will surely learn to love math you made it fun for them.  Well, there are some steps which can be followed and these are discussed below:

  1. Parents should need to put colorful cut outs of small, medium and large geometric shapes on the walls in their children’s room. Get or make shapes. These may be plastic ones that will float in the bath tub.
  2. Teach your children the names of these shapes and also make it fun to think about. So that they will play with them.
  3. Count different things; most anytime and anywhere. For example, count the sparrows which are sitting on the ground.
  4. Parents need to help them to learn numeracy and also learn to count. Then gradually start to add and subtract objects.
  5. Parents should be sort of cheer leaders for their children.
