Update

Monday June 22

Hi everyone, I just wanted to thank all for stopping in and visiting Mark. It really means alot to us. SO THANK YOU ALL!!!!!! Well not much really to report  for update info. I will tell you what I know. Mark had surgery that started at 8:46 this a.m. It was over at about 9:50 a.m. All went fairly well, they (the Dr.'s) tried twice to give him a nerve blocker. It did not take fully so the had to use a breathing tube. After most of the day waiting around they finally let me in to see him for 5 min. in the recovery room. Then back to more waiting. Around 4p.m. We were allowed to go back into the ICU. After a couple of hours in there the Dr.'s decided to try to start to taper down his proponel(sedative) which started to work about 20 later. He did respond to voice statements. They continued to reduce the amount that they were giving him, which was working. When they kicked me out at 7p.m. he was awake and pretty much fully alert, but not very happy that the breathing tube was still in. I called and spoke with his nurse at 9:10p.m. He said that mark was making good progress with his breathing, and that they would wait and see how the rest of the evening goes. I will try to write some more tomorrow. Good Night All   Yvonne & Joshua

Second Surgery

Mark just had his second surgery today.  The surgery only lasted an hour, went well, but he is having some difficulty breathing on his own.  He has been transfered back into ICU and is still sedated.

We will post more information as we get it.

Welcome!

Hi Everyone!

Welcome to the blog that chronicles Mark's progress throughout his hospital stay. Yvonne asked me (Mark's sister) to create a central place where we can give Mark's friends frequent updates on Mark's progress and where they can leave him messages of support and encouragement.

Yvonne (or myself) will post updates on Mark's progress.  So far, in case you didn't know, he is out of ICU!! Yay!

His second surgery is tentatively scheduled for Monday and as soon as we know anything else, we'll post it here.
