Almost Friday... Really?
Mood:  not sure
Now Playing: Yay For AC!!!!

Morning…

I apologize about the lack in updates, there just isn’t much to update on and I have been so distracted lately. It is 430 and I finally seem to have time to sit and write. Well to be honest I am awake because of a stomach ache, but I see that as annoying as it is, it makes me have to be still, allowing me the opportunity to write, or surf the internet. I think I would rather write, I mean, I can only handle too much surfing before it becomes extremely boring.

The current thing I am researching on the computer is a shelving unit I can turn into a pantry. It can’t be just any old shelving unit; it needs to be something along these lines…

shelfYet it needs to be tall like an actual book shelf… I would like it to have different sized cubby holes and what not so I can stay super organized, especially since I want to use a couple of those canvas storage bins too.

bin I have a feeling I will just have to come up with a design and build it at the shop on base, with some help of course. I would need CornFed’s truck, haha. It is just an idea, don’t know if it will happen, but we will see. It at least gives me something to think about.

I hope everyone had a great 4th of July! We did for the most part. Froggy got off early on Thursday since he wasn’t doing squadron duties and so our weekend started 6 hours earlier than planned. YAY! We mainly relaxed and screwed up our sleeping pattern, should make for an interesting work week and that was about it. Thursday night we stayed up too late and didn’t get to bed until a few hours after midnight. I was waiting on a text message from Radar informing me of when he wanted his wings and where I needed to take them. He of course got back to us around midnight and requested them for noon the next day. Big Blah, you know? It wouldn’t have been such a drag if it wasn’t for the fact that I was cooking 72 wings (2 batches) and it takes about 2 hours per batch. It sounds silly, but I am not going to compromise my process to save time, I think it would make the wings lose their “dominating” flavor. Oh well. Anyway, so that made for a tiresome morning. We dropped the wings off around 1300 and had plans with Radar later that night to hit up the snobby part of town to see their Holiday Festival. He was too tired from the night before and off of its activities, and after hearing his stories, I have no idea how he did all of that in less than 12 hours, but I figured he would cancel, so I wasn’t too worried. I think after the final word of “o go” on plans, Froggy and I took a nap that had us waking up later than we had wanted, sometime around midnight. I think we played video games and I made a homemade pizza using my wing sauce and some chicken and MS Polk’s Sausage. OH MAN, OH MAN!!! That pizza, in 90’s terminology, was “da bomb!” hehe. Man it was tasty. Froggy was all excited and wants me to bring in a bunch of them for the flight sometime. You know, with all this cooking he wants me to do, I think I need to invest in a second oven and a bigger Crockpot and grill, “Sheesh”. On the 4th we had thunderstorms like crazy and most of the fireworks shows got rescheduled for this upcoming weekend. ^_^  what a way to extend Independence Day!!! Sunday, I think we mostly relaxed and the same with yesterday. Although yesterday, around 400, the AC decided to call it quits, and that wasn’t very nice, especially since the office didn’t open until 900. Froggy went down to the office and put in a work order and around 1130 they showed up to fix it. Apparently it was really, really broken because it took him about 3.5 hours to diagnose, get the part and fix it. He wasn’t lolly-gagging or anything it was just that broken. I don’t remember what he said was wrong with it; I was really tired, still kind of am really. Froggy and I decided to stay up all day Monday since we never went to bed the night before, and Monday was a work night. Anywho speaking of not going to bed, it was around midnight-thirty early Monday morning and I got a wild hair to go PT. So Froggy and I headed down to the base field track and were stopped by MP on the way to the dorms. I am going to assume it was a sobriety checkpoint since they were standing in the middle of the intersection stopping people. If it hadn’t been for Froggy I would never have seen them since they weren’t wearing reflective belts. I saw the car, I am good at that, but they were just shadows in a not very well lit street. So he “flashlights” us to stop and I roll down my window and I say hello. He says hello and continues to stare at us curiously. Normally when I get pulled over on base it is for a seatbelt check (they have occasional checkpoints like this) or it is because of the infamous trouble I have with keeping my license plate light lit, this was weird, I mean he didn’t ask or say anything after hello, not even a gesture. I bet we could have stared at each other for hours but I am sure traffic would back up and plus I wanted to hurry up and work out because I knew I was going to need to pee soon. So I an attempt to stop the awkwardness and I hand him our ID’s and inform him that we are going jogging. He responds with, "that doesn’t sound fun" and I counter it with a heavy sigh and an “I know”. He hands us our ID’s ad sends us on our way. Froggy and I get to the track and not 15 minutes later here comes the same guys, now cruising slowly by the track. They totally didn’t believe we were jogging, it kind of insulted me, but hey, I understand. It does seem a little odd for someone to want to PT on a holiday weekend, not to mention at midnight-thirty. Though I am a night owl and this is seems perfectly normal to me. What I think isn’t normal is PT-ing at 1600, the hottest part of the day, in the middle of summer, that is crazy in a nutshell. Anywho, I understand though, can’t trust people on a 4 day weekend with access to “Fine Spirits”. So we continue our jog one lap, walk and do circuits lap and so on and what do you know, ten minutes after the first crawl by, here they come again. I guess they really didn’t believe us. I am surprised they didn’t pull us over again to make sure we weren’t intoxicated or drugged up. It was slightly odd. The work out was good and I was able to get rid of lot of pent up energy. I really needed that.

Today I shall be cooking the turkey that I wanted to cook but never felt up to do so. Not that I have the energy of patience to cook it today, but if I don’t cook it soon I will be wasting good meat, since it has been defrosting in the fridge since payday. I think I will do some laundry and start organizing the bedroom, it is a disaster in there and I am considering calling up FEMA, I really need some assistance. *shudders*

Anyway, Froggy is up and has coffee brewing, which always makes me hungry. I hope some food in my tummy will help with this upset stomach. I hope you all have a great day today! Take care!

Froggy here (previously known as Flyboy)!

Today, Niki is cooking her awesome chicken wing recipe for our friend Radar.  He was going to have a party and he ordered a couple batches from us.  Of course, late last night, he wrote and told us that the plans had changed, the wings needed to be delivered 4 hours earlier and that there was no longer any party.  So Niki got up at 0630 and started cooking the wings.  That is about all that is going for today. Updates later.

A Wink And A Smile from Sleepless in Seattle

Good Morning!

How was everyone’s weekend? Ours was relaxing yet busy at the same time. We spent most of the time catching up on sleep and re-configuring ourselves to our time zone. We went dragon hunting on Friday and Thursday I got sunburned at the pool. Saturday Froggy decided he felt like PT-ing at 100 so we walked around the Base Trail. Come to find out that the reason why my feet hurt was because apparently it is a 5 mile trail… Don’t worry; we wore all the appropriate safety gear for walking at night. ^_^ I didn’t know it was 5 miles otherwise I would have suggested we play tennis instead. I know we walked this trail before, like back when we were dating, but back then it was more like “Let’s go for a walk sweetie” rather than like now, “I feel fat, you look fat, maybe we should workout… hmm, how about the Base Trail.” Total difference I tell ya. It makes the trail a WHOLE lot longer than the already long 5 miles that it is, not to mention the 100 degree temperature with the 85% humidity. =P

Speaking of humidity, we actually got a little bit of rain early this morning. It was quite refreshing really. There is nothing like an early morning rain, thunder and cloud to ground lightening to start of a brand new day! I am not being sarcastic, I do like morning rain showers/storms; it really gets me in the mood to clean. ^_^ Though, I did nothing of the sort yesterday even though it was and is very much needed. I will be doing that after I post this. Froggy did some of the dishes yesterday afternoon so I guess I should probably finish them. I have LOTS of laundry to wash and put away and I honestly need to just sit down and reorganize everything again. It is just starting to feel stagnant again, if that makes any sense whatsoever. Haha.

I feel so bad writing such a short entry today, but I m really getting pumped about cleaning and I don’t want that to go to waste because then cleaning won’t be as fun as it could be. Not like it is fun at all, but I think you know what I am trying to say. I hope you all have a great day and try to stay cool!

Now Playing: Name That Rattling Sound In The House!!!

Good Morning!

I apologize for this post being so late in the morning, but I was stuck at the dentist office waiting for Groggy Froggy to get finished with his appointment. I was going to stay on base all day until Groggy Froggy was released from work, he has a half day today, but I decided that I would rather access my email in the comfort of my own home instead of the BX. Apparently they have Wife in the BX now…

Anyway not much is going on around here other than the heat is more intense than a sauna. It also varies from day to day between dry sauna and wet sauna, it gets old VERY fast. I guess we are getting what we missed from last summer this year. Last summer was a nice summer, like a wet coast summer but without the sea breeze of course. This year… I’m scared. At least we have a pool? Luckily our apartment is like right in front of the pool and the gym and laundry facility for that matter. Although we don’t use the laundry facility we will use the gym once they finish remodeling it and the pool, well we did that yesterday after Froggy got off work. I like how the apartment managers have the complex set up… All the couples and singles are in the front of the complex and the families with children are in the back where there is a lot less traffic. That also means that the kids hang out at the pool by them and the pool by us just has “non-splashers”. ^_^ that makes for a nice relaxing finish to a day’s craziness.

Well I better start putting together the Split Pea if we want to eat before 2200 tonight. Froggy is off tomorrow and Friday but they are having Flight P.T. at 730 tomorrow and Froggy thinks he should go. He doesn’t have to, but we both think it is a wise idea to keep leadership “happy” if you know what I mean. I better go; I am running out of prep time o.O

Take Care!

6 Hours and 20 Minutes Until He Gets Off Work!
Mood:  bright
Now Playing: Come What May - Moulin Rouge Soundtrack (Our song ^_^)

Come What May - Moulin Rouge Soundtrack

Good morning!

*yawn* I just got back from a quick trip to the grocery store and it took more out of me than I thought. o.O I needed to restock some of my groceries to get us through until next payday. I think I did a pretty good job. ^_^

Groggy Froggy was able to get his leave processed and approved so he will have half a day (he won’t be charged with the half day according to Regs) on Wednesday with Thursday and Friday off.  I told him he needs to save some leave so he can take me to the oral surgeon to get my teeth removed, but he reassures me he has enough for that.

We didn’t do too much yesterday, I think we headed to bed around 2100. Though we weren’t able to fall asleep as fast as we had planned, our room is doing that “not staying cool” thing again. The rest of the house is freezing, well as freezing as 73 degrees can get and the bedroom is like 80 degrees. The fan is on, so that really isn’t the problem and it stays cool during sunset (our window faces east) but as soon as it gets dark, “ZOOM!” the temperature goes straight up. Weird.

Tonight will be lasagna night and tomorrow I declare Left-Over’s Night and I think I will make 15 bean soup for Thursday and Split pea for Friday. Which means Left-Over’s for the weekend, tacos on Monday and then back to the store to do “real” shopping on Tuesday. After that I have absolutely no clue and I figure I will play it by ear, or whatever my “tumbly is rumbly” for. (I have no idea why I tend to quote Winnie-the-Pooh…)

I finished up most of the laundry, just need to finish folding and putting it away. I still have a few tings to do around here, and then I can get back to going through all 60 gigs of songs Soldier left us with. A lot of them are duplicates so I am going through them and getting rid of the doubles and of the songs that just don’t fancy our taste. So far I have gotten it down to 40 gigs, last I checked and I have a long way to go. I would just delete the artists I don’t recognize, but then I might be missing out on some very good music, and oh how Groggy Froggy loves his music.

I think that is it for now. I need to make a bunch of phone calls too so I probably should let you guys go for now. Take care! Love ya!

We Have Returned!
Mood:  bright
Now Playing: The Hamster Running In My Head

Good morning!

Well, we have returned and it is good to be back!

First off I want to start off by saying thank you, for letting us come out and visit. We really enjoyed it and I know Soldier did too. Soldier has made it safely back to where he was and is doing alright. He fried his new laptop hard drive already so he is dealing with that right now.

Oh… Flyboy has a new nickname; I will no longer be calling him Flyboy. When we got back from Cali, he was soo tired and out of it. I mean he was tired as if it were 300 when it was only like 1400 and we were on our way to the store to pick up something and out of nowhere he pops off with, “I’m a Groggy Froggy” then sighs and goes quiet again. I don’t even think he knew what he said, but from now on, Flyboy is now, Groggy Froggy.

So, as soon as we arrived home, Groggy Froggy had to go to work the next morning. It was a good thing he did too because apparently they were mission planning for the TDY Monday, it had gotten moved up a day. Needless to say, he went on crew rest immediately after work and we had an early show time on Tuesday. The cool thing about this particular TDY was that since they were sending so many guys, the ones who couldn’t fit on the plane got to fly commercially. Off to the airport we went… at dawn… After I dropped him off there, I got on the road and headed for Mississippi. I figured that since he was getting to go on a week long TDY to his home state and is able to visit his parents, why can’t I go see mine? I am officially tired of driving long distances, so we won’t be adventuring for awhile. Haha

I don’t know what all he got to see and do while he was out there, we really haven’t gotten a chance to sit down, relax and talk with each other since our trip to Cali. I mean as soon as we arrived he had to go to work the next day. It is the same with today, he got back late Sunday night and he is at work at the moment. He is hoping to take Thursday and Friday off so we can have a weekend. The poor thing is SOO drained. I find it funny though, he always complains at how we aren’t busy going out and doing things and now that we are he is waving the “Time-Out” flag. Hehe. Silly man.

My trip was fun, well not the driving part, like I said; I am a little burnt on that. I feel bad because I pretty much slept the whole time I was there. =/ One day I slept for like 14 hours straight!! I haven’t done that since I was in high school… yay for summer vacation! They are doing well over there. It is so muggy and filled with creepy bugs in that state. I don’t think I have been out there during the summer months, I have no idea how Groggy Froggy survived Tech School. (He was stationed at Keesler during Tech school) On the second day I was there I treated mom and I to a day at the spa and that was really fun. I got my hair cut really short too. (I will send pictures, don’t worry) I cooked them my Delta Flight Dominators (wings) and The King really liked them. I wish I would have brought my Foreman so I could make them exactly they way I do at home. The King is thinking about BBQ-ing them… I can’t wait to see how they turn out then!

I will have to write about our trip to Cali either tomorrow or Wednesday. Today has been pretty busy and I am not even halfway done yet. I need to call up some people for Soldier as well as finish doing laundry. (LOTS of laundry, but no dishes =D hehe) I need to unpack everything and get this place back in order, it is driving me nuts. Plus I need to figure out dinner… I am thinking spaghetti and a salad?

Well I hope you all are doing well, I am exhausted and can’t wait to crash tonight! Take care!

~NikiRose

P.S. PowerPresto… Thank you for the flower! =) I really, Really, REALLY like it and it is SO pretty! Right now it is sitting in a vase next to computer. ^_^ Thank you SOOO much!

This will be a very short entry, though I do plan on adding to it later this afternoon, but we will see. I am waiting for Flyboy to finish his morning routine, and then after I drop him off I will be running a bunch of errands.

Sandwich, Sandwich, I'm In Love With You!!!
Mood:  bright
Now Playing: American Soldier by Toby Keith

American Soldier by Toby Keith

he’s back

in the states

!!!!!!!!!!

I just wanted to let you know that Soldier is back in the States now. He called Mississippi Mom to let her know, and she passed it to me. Then of course I got the voice mail. He is in Dallas, and is catching a flight to LAX. I don’t know what his flight number is, but after using my “investigative” skills I have an idea of which flight he is on. The soonest he will land in Cali is 1100 and the next flight to Smorcut leaves LAX at 1322, so the earliest he can arrive in Smorcut is around 1430 or so. If he misses those flights, the next flight out of there is 1830, so hopefully he can catch the first one though in his email, it did say he would arrive in Smorcut at 1918… but hey, if he can get there early, why not? I am just letting you know that you don’t have to worry about the phone ringing until after lunch. ^_^ I checked to see if he could fly to Santa Barbara then to Smorcut, but there was only one flight and it just left now, so that would be a negative on that. I just thought I would keep you updated. I am SOO glad he is State side again!

On a sadder note, I want to take a moment and send my condolences to the Goodman family as they are grieving their loss of their 21 year old daughter. Flyboy and I don’t know their family personally, but Radar does, and he and Ashton were really good friends growing up. She was severely injured while deployed to Afghanistan from an IED explosion over Memorial Day weekend. Radar says he is alright, but I know him well enough to know… Anyway, I just wanted to take a moment and send my condolences to all of those that knew her, and Radar, if you are reading this, have a safe trip back home, I will have some wings for ya when you get back, if I am not able to send you out there with them…

There isn’t much going on here. I am still packing and I was finally able to find all of our missing socks. There are a few things on my list to get before we make our trip out there.

Did you know it’s a 14 hour flight from Germany to Dallas Texas? I know, a little random. Flyboy and I discovered that Soldier was in Germany when he alerted us of his “718” arrival. (He never told us what day he was arriving and we scrambled around to figure out, basically what was “up”.) In the process of all of that we learned that it is a 14 hour flight from Germany to Dallas Texas. It is also a 9 hour time difference between Germany and Cali. Hey, I never said my entries couldn’t be educational… hehe.

I don’t know what else is going on around here. Flyboy flies tomorrow, go figure, the day before he goes on leave. They always do this, and it just makes the day before traveling even more stressful because there is always a chance of him getting diverted and having to stay in another state over night. I know they will bus him back to base that way he can go on leave, but then that just worries me regarding land travel. At least in the air they don’t have to really worry about traffic (I won’t bring up the near head on collision that he was in during a TDY in Vegas. I am just glad that our pilots knew what they were doing. For this I believe that the navy should stay in the water, leave the flying to us. ^_~ ) Anyway… birds strikes, knock on wood, not to stressed about that until he gets station in Alaska. *shudders* but anyway, anyway, ANYWAY… people in cars are insane, and you know me, it bothers me when I am not the one driving, well unless I am with a parent or family adults that have more than 5 years behind the wheel. *shudders* the rest of you are scary drivers, stop it! Anywho, I guess it is basically a trust issue, and that stresses me out. But I don’t see any strange weather on radar and Radar won’t be flying, so we don’t have to worry about the plane breaking. (Sorry Radar, I couldn’t resist) So I think it should be fine. I will find out when crew rest starts around lunch time, I think… I mean, I think he said he was heading to Mission Planning just now, but then again, generally it is after lunch. (Not always, but it sure seems like it) hmm…

Well, before I think to hard and let my brain explode, I think I will let you all go for now. I need to figure out what I want to destroy for dinner. Plus, I need to get, I know, you know, more cleaning done. So take care and I shall see some of you in 5 days 9 hours and 19 minutes, your time!

 ~NikiRose

I... Just Don't know... =S
Mood:  sad
Now Playing: Just A Dream by Carrie Underwood

Just A Dream by Carrie Underwood

Good afternoon!

Flyboy was on crew rest until about an hour ago, so that is the reason for today’s late post. Yeah, there sure is nothing like being with someone for 6 days straight, 24-7 and then the first day you are separated is for 14 hours plus. *sigh* I feel pretty bad though, we did stay up talking an hour or so into crew rest. He is alright, don’t worry, he did get his 8 hours. =) I am glad that we did talk; it helped relieve a lot of my stresses. Don’t get me wrong, I am still stressed as ever, but it is more of a surface stress than a core stress, if that makes ANY sense at all.

We figured it wasn’t the Glucophage that was making me queasy since I am still queasy and I haven’t taken it for over a week now. We are guessing that it is the other pill I am taking because we were out past my pill time (yes I have a scheduled time to take my pills) and after about 20 minutes of it not being in my system, I came ever so close to losing my dinner on a passing goose. We also know that it is a common side affect of those particular pills. My question is, why hasn’t this affected me in the past, I have been taking them since December…

This weekend has been very looooong. It started off with the Squadron picnic and ended with a day of washing uniforms.

The picnic was alright. It dragged a whole lot though. (Maybe I should get involved with organizing this yearly shindig) Flyboy’s allergies started acting up like they always do. This time the allergy pill didn’t help, poor thing, so we ended up leaving early. We had fun while we were there and I guess that is what counts? After we left and Flyboy’s allergies were under control, I decided we would head downtown and get some miscellaneous nuts for the nut mix I make him. (He was low and Soldier wanted me to bring some, since he liked the mix I sent him). On the way hone we stopped by the Boba Tea place and had some of that yummy-ness and somehow wound up walking around downtown for 3 hours or so. All I know is we arrived when it was light and didn’t leave until dark. =S (that’s when I missed my pills and almost lost my supper on a waddling goose) We ended up walking a little over 3 miles. (We Googled it when we got home)

Friday I am completely drawing a blank on, which means we probably, stuck around the house. Saturday I rearranged the house again. This time is so open, and I love it! Well except at night when I am coming from the bedroom and all the lights are off, then it is really, REALLY spooky, bit other than that it is awesome! Flyboy wasn’t too thrilled with that, but he likes the end result. He decided to do the dishes for me while I rearranged the living room, yay me! I made chicken parmesan that night and it turned out surprisingly well. (I have been having trouble making it for a while now)

Sunday we went on a quest to find a suitable Over Night Bag, and we found one. I wish it was taller, but hey, this one works for us. I don’t think there will ever me another Over Night Bag like Mississippi Mom’s brown one. ^_^ I like that bag =) Once we came home and I packed it (still missing a few items that I will pick up o Friday) Flyboy reminded me that he needed his uniforms washed, so that became my next task. Once the clothes were done, we watched the news and TMZ (now, I am not a fan of celebrity gossip, let alone the shows, you know the shows I am talking about, but we really enjoy this show for the sheer fact that it is real journalism not this “yellow” nonsense) when headed for bed and Flyboy went on crew rest.

I woke up this afternoon and took him to work and here I am, bored and alone. I don’t have to sweat it too much; he has tomorrow off, another comp day. (they make them take comp days asap) right now I have my second load of clothes in the wash and a pile of clean clothes on the couch that need to be folded, so I can use the basket to transfer laundry. I plan on unloading the dishwasher and putting the newly dirty ones in there and pretty much get this house together for the trip. I figure I will also start packing our clothes that way I don’t have to do more laundry.

Tomorrow, we are going to get up early and go swimming since all the kids will be at school and everyone else won’t have the day off. (This was Flyboy’s idea, and a really excited one at that!)

As For Soldier, I have no clue. The last I heard from him was on Thursday, and I couldn’t talk very long because we had to go to the picnic. (We were talking over the computer) As far as I know he left on our Monday (his Tuesday) for his HOP. When I hear something out of him I will let you all know. I am guessing he won’t get to the States until Saturday or so. He said they have to have a full plane before they can take off. I mean depending on how long it will take to fill that flight, there is a chance it may be a few weeks before he can get to the States. I pray that won’t be the case, but I am just letting you know the situation.

Well my tummy is growling and the washer just finished doing its thing, so I better go for now. I hope you all are doing well, and if you hear from Soldier before I do, tell him to call me or something. =)

Take care! Love ya!
