Are you a student Majoring in Social Work interested in work with those with Developmental Disabilities? How about getting some hands on experience with people on the Autism Spectrum by working with Aspie volunteers, Transition-Age Youth and their families using the Person Centered Planning model to help build a lasting Circle of Support that follows them after high school and set them on track of making lives outside of the Social Security norm by helping them meet important milestones in preparation for life outside of highschool?

Are you an older Aspie interested in helping the younger generation who in large numbers despair of ever finding help by hands on volunteering to teach life skills and coping mechanisms needed to survive in a Nuero-Typical world so that they too can have a chance of a life outside the family home?

Answer yes to any of these questions and you've come to the right place! We are looking for people who feel called to work with those on the Spectrum that the world often forgets. Motivated individuals willing to take the time out of their lives to be a part of some spectacular. Right now I am looking for 2 Social Work Majors, non-for-profit Administrative volunteers, and 10 elder Aspies.

All Volunteers will go through background checks and will be trained in basic Disability Awareness, the basics of working with Aspies, Person Centered Planning, Advocacy, as well as learn about how to work with local Provider Agencies and Vocational Rehab in the goal of setting up a post-graduation plan for the person on the Spectrum. If this sounds like you and you are willing to help, contact information can be found on the side.

Will be posting upcoming news from authors, the Centers for Independent Living, and local Advocacy groups as they come as well as some fun stuff as we go along.
