Liberty has been performing HIPAA compliant X-ray recovery and destruction services for over thirteen years and has the infrastructure and equipment to properly recycle of large amounts of sensitive X-ray films. Our medical X-ray imaging customers include both large and small hospital facilities, chiropractors, veterinarians, dentists, and other medical art facilities. We can process all type of X-rays from conventional and DryView to dental and cine cardiac films and
in compliance with HIPAA regulations, we follow strict guidelines and procedures and all X-rays are destroyed within 10 days of receipt at our own secure facility. Certificates of Destruction are also available upon request and we carry both general and environmental liability insurance to protect our customers and our business.

On-Site Medical X-Ray Film Purging and Recycling Process:

Trained staff will sort X-ray film archives according to guidelines provided by the hospital and will package film for shipment to refinery facility. Then we will ship to our refining facilities in a HIPAA compliant manner.
X-ray film is recycled in a HIPAA compliant manner and the silver is recovered.
Certificates of Destruction confirming that the proper process was taken to destroy the sensitive information contained in X-ray films for hospital records are provided.

The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has issued the regulation, "Standards for Privacy of Individually Identifiable Health Information," applicable to entities covered by HIPAA. The Office for Civil Rights (OCR) is the Departmental component responsible for implementing and enforcing the privacy regulation.

As a business associate under HIPAA, and as an independent contractor providing document shredding/destruction service, we will appropriately safeguard all Protected Health Information and will not use or disclose to a third party unless required by law until shredded, and issue a certificate of destruction at completion.
