Poet Gwendolyn Yates to Present Program on February 6

Poet Gwendolyn Yates will present a poetry program and book signing on Saturday, February 6 from 1:00 - 4:30 pm in the library auditorium. You are in for a special treat from a spectacular singer, songwriter and poet!

Gwendolyn Draper Yates is a native of Vicksburg, MS, who is an educator, poet, songwriter and newly published author of a book of poetry, Hometown Matters of the Heart. Ms. Yates describes herself as a faith walker -- she enjoys being with people, reading the Bible, writing poetry, articles and short stories, writing songs, solving problems and helping others. She also enjoys going to the movies, gardening, decorating, dining out and shopping. Ms. Yates is a member of the Standfield New Life Christian Church that she claims has "great pastors and members."

Eight of the poems in her poetry book, Hometown Matters of the Heart, have been etc. etc.


Mystery Book Club Tackles Romantic Suspense Stories in March

On Monday, March 29 at 6:00 pm, the library's Mystery Readers Book Club will discuss Romantic Suspence mysteries. Etc. etc.

Library Celebrates Black History Month

Black History Month is traditionally celebrated during February, the month containing both Abraham Lincoln's birthday (February 12) and Frederick Douglass's presumed birthday (February 14). Etc
