My ideas on "Fashion as an Art" is just that. Art is the quality, production, or expression according to aesthetic principles of what is beautiful, appealing, or of more than ordinary significance. Does this not explain fashion to a T? Fashion designers as well as fashion merchandisers can be seen as artists because of what their minds do when it comes to their work. They are both creative and innovative. It takes a lot of trail-and-error, just like any other artist. Scott Adams said it best when he said that "Creativity is allowing yourself to make mistakes. Art is knowing which one's to keep". This is a direct portal into seeing fashion as art. As for me, I like to see myself as an artist because I do make those mistakes. The only difference is that I keep them all. This may show in my accessory collection or it may not, but it was sure fun doing it. I was given the idea of this look by a lego-inspired Balenciaga shoe that was shown in the Fall of 2007. Shortly after, in the Spring of 2008, during the New York Fashion Week, a line of lego accessories done by Marc by Marc Jacobs was showcased. The playful color block look caught my eye as soon as I seen the simple designs glide down the runway. My accessory line was developed from hours of browsing new glasses. It was originally intended to feature shoes, but I thought it would be more rational to feature accessories to upkeep the tradition. My accessory line originally featured super sized glasses, but it was then brought to my attention to do a whole mini-collection. It now includes the frames, a watch, a few belt buckles, and a snazzy headband. Enjoy!
