Had a great time at the street hockey event.  Lots of people showed up, and the weather was fantastic.  Below are some photos from the event.  Thanks everyone who came out! (More photos in album).

The henna/threading fundraising raised $120 within 3 hours. We had difficulties finding a venue as many locations in the university were already booked for other events. We still didn't give up and finally found a venue at the aboriginal student centre. The volunteers who helped with this event with me were Tyra and Aafra. This event was a hit and everyone who attended the event wanted us to do this again next year!

The Henna tattoo was also successful.  Check out the great photos in the Photos tab!

Crepes sale was a big success!  Congrats on the $173.27 profit after hours of work preparing and selling.

Here is how the groups are currently doing.  The area social money will soon be tallied.  It is projected to be around $1,500-$2,000.  This will put us close to the $3,000 mark.  Hopefully we will be able to reach our goal of $4,000 that was projected at the beginning of the year!

What is Henna tattoos: Henna tattoos are non-permanent dying or staining on the top layer of skin using a henna paste product, the process is called Mehndi. The tattoos are generally an intricate design and brown in color.
How Long Henna Tattoo last on skin?
Designs stay on skin between 5-15 days depending on the intensity of the color, which skin portion that was tattooed and to what time duration u hold tattoo on skin. How often u wash hand or any part of body with soap and water.
What is Threading? Eyebrow threading can be used to eliminate a unibrow, raise the arch of the eyebrow, or add shape and definition to the brow. Because it removes hair by the follicle, it is a reasonably long lasting hair removal technique as well. involves twisting a piece of thread, usually cotton, into a double strand. This double stranded thread is used to pick up a line of hair and then remove it, creating a very clean, precise hairline. The procedure is sanitary as nothing but the thread touches the skin.

Upcoming Events and Important Information:

  • Test #2, March 21st
  • Pizza sale Thursday, March 22nd in the Drake lobby, 12:30 - 2:00 P.M
  • Social March 24th, at Area Nightclub
  • Crepes sale, March 27th, all day
  • Henna tattoo sale, March 29th
  • All star skills competition, River Heights Arena, April 1st, 1:00-4:00 P.M
** It is extremely hard to sell tickets at the Drake booth.  I have sold tickets there for socials all year.  I would be surprised if even 10 tickets were sold.  Word of mouth is the only way this social will sell out, so talk to your friends/family, it's only $5.00 even if they can't attend.  Encourage everyone to take at least 5 tickets! **

** Please use firefox/google chrome viewing the website, explorer does not load well on some computers!

Information Needed:
  • Food: Are we still raising food donations?  How much has been raised?
  • Clothes: Great job on the 50 bags.  How many articles of clothing was this drop off?
  • Sports: We need to meet up very soon, compile the list, and drop this stuff off so we know how we did
  • Finance: How much has been lent out now? What is the bank balance to date?
  • Social:  Any way we can get a rough estimate on # tickets sold, not just lent out?
  • Funding: Please let me know how each sale does. (Ex Henna, Jewelry, Crepes, Pizza) when you know

Rebecca would like to create a yearbook for the class, so here is how to do so:

E-mail her a picture of yourself at: rebeccasisler@gmail.com along with a photo and your name
If you would like to help with the bake sale, E-mail Marlo at: marlo2585@gmail.com

Please try to E-mail me your group info and keep me updated with progress at jskaftfeld@gmail.com so we can keep track as a group how well we are doing.  Would be easiest if the communicators send me this information.  Thanks.

January 29th, 2012

The website does not load properly on some old Internet Explorer browsers, so I might change the design.  It doesn't load good on the school computers.

January 26th, 2012

I thought that I would create a temporary website to get going.  I do not claim to have the best website making skills, but I thought that we could use this to get ourselves up and running.  If anyone feels that they would like to do the website instead, feel free to take over.  I noticed that there was only one person in the class who said that they could take care of it, but it was the responsibility of her brother and I don't think that he would like to be updating and worrying about this website.

This will be a good place to track the progress of how each group has been doing.  By using the navigation at the top, feel free to look through each section of fundraising, and see the progress that they have done.  A good way to track the progress and keep the information on the site up to date would be to have the communicators e-mail me the updated progress of the groups on a weekly basis.  Once the updates have been sent to me, I can update the groups and we can see the progress we have made.  It would also be helpful to know who is in what group.

I don't see us really needing to pay for web hosting.  I think this site will mainly just be used for students to track the progress over a 3-4 month span.  Currently, all I have paid for is $3.00/mo to get rid of annoying Ads.  The web URL is kinda annoying, but everyone can bookmark it to make it easier.

You can sign the guestbook/comments on any information missed or things I should add.

It would be great to e-mail me the progress and groups at: jskaftfeld@gmail.com
