WATERDOWN HIGH'S COOPERATIVE EDUCATION PORTAL

Benefits of Co-operative Education

Cooperative Education is working at Waterdown District High School! Co-op allows students to earn high school credits while all at the same time receiving practical insight to a possible career choice.

If you are interested in pursuing Co-op you should be a senior student in grade eleven and/or twelve and be at least sixteen years of age. Next, we link an in school subject with the students co-operative interest. For example, a student interested in taking Co-op as an automotive mechanic would need to have succesefully completed the course TTJ3E1 Transportation Technology. Next, the student applies for Coop and will have an interview with a cooperative education teacher. Once approved, the coop teacher will seek out the appropriate company, the student will interview for the placement. After a successeful interview, the co-op teacher, the employer and the student will complete a detailed training profile that meets the needs of the employer, the student and the school.
