Brian Molko and Stefan Olsdal went to the same high school,in Luxembourg.Brian never socialized with Stefan because he was the "drama loser" and Stefan was the "basketball jock". Ironically a few years later they bumped into each other at a subway station at South Kensington,that was a couple of years after Brian had arrived in London to study drama.One night , Molko(singer and guitarist),invited Stefan to one of his gigs,surprisingly Stef went. Molko and Stef ended up forming a band called Ashtray Heart with Brian's friend Steve Hewitt who played the drums,they recorded several demos together.Keeping his commitment to a different band called Breed, Steve could no longer  play with Ashtray Hearts.Then Stef introduced Brian to Robert Schultzberg,another drummer.Around that time they changed their name to Placebo. They only played 5 gigs when London record companies began showing an interest, also Fierce Panda released "Bruise Pristine" as a split single in 1995. That is how this great band was born.
