Chapter 1// Chapter 2//Chapter 3/Chapter 4//Chapter 5//Chapter 6

The world we live in is created through balance. We have overpopulation, so the world transmits disease.
We have a need for love, so thus the world produce sluts. We have a need for power, so the world gives birth to the weak.
We have a sense for belonging, so thus the world creates groups.

Groups. The Shinjo. The Dead. The Living. The Grey.

They are all looking for a power, raw energy. Something to supply their needs for fuel; for magic, for life, and for salvation.
In the 20th century, three of the four main groups of the underworld have found it. A capsule who holds the key to all their needs, for those in search of glory, prolonging life, for power, and for peace.

In many stories, they all speak of legends, prophecies, hidden signs written in stone awaiting to be fulfilled
In reality, sometimes, there is no assurance for rescue.

Chapter 1

Awakening the Devil!

In the horizon beyond the eyes reach, the sun sets. Its face blazing with heat, as if its petals of fire dance across the curviture of the earth. A bell breaks the silence of the darkness that falls over the abandoned building. The devil who sleeps beneath the unfinished foundation of the building jerks his ears slightly.

Three hundred years, and not once has he stirred.

In the far distant corner of the building tucked away into the shadows, a girl dressed in a gothic lolita costume, with a bell tied to a choker, runs up the steps, running away from what looks to be nothing but darkness.

The girl looks back as she continues her flight up the stairs, a dark hand snakes across the shadows, or maybe it was just a trick of the light? She grabs hold of the hems of her dress and continues to run. The figure becoming clearer as she ascends.

She climbs up the stairs, tiring because they seem never ending, and yet wishing for it to never end, because what looms behind her is much...darker. The bell around her throat continues to jingle across the desolate building.

The devil jerks his ears again in his sleep, groaning as muscles that have been set like stone for three hundred years twitch awake.

The moon shines from the lonely pillars, where walls should have been. Dark rooms and wet floors stand where people should have stood. But to the frightened flee-ette and the mysterious pursuer, it matters not if they were in a crowded walk way, or a booming building. The pursuit would be imminent.

As she reaches the top floor, the girl stares out in horror. The seemingly flightless building ends. Realization touches her as she runs to the other side of the building in desperation. She was trapped.

The bell around her neck ever jingling.

One hundred feet beneath the foundation of the building the devil groans again.

On the top floor, Kaisuka turns around as she reaches the other side of the building, her eyes turn to the ground below her. A steep fall that would insure a quick death. The figure like a dancing shadow starts to materialize completely in front of her, finally becoming more solid and yet still whisps of dark vapor.

"Capsule."

The voice wispy and distant as if someone from far away were whispering it.

The figure looms against the pillars directly in front of Kaisuka, as if it were dripping from the walls, so vast was its mass, it covered the moon behind it. Kaisuka raises her hands, her nails clutching at the soft skin on her face.

"Get...get away from me!"

At her sudden shout, the darkness snatches out at her as a hand forms around her waist, squeezing the air from her lungs. She thrashes from side to side, the constant movement makes the bell around her neck jingle with a ferocity it was not entitled to.

The shadow draws it closer and closer to what seems to be its mouth, saliva dripping from its teeth and landing on her arms, smothering her skin.

Kaisuka's face stiffens as she comes closer to her death.

"The Capsule...is...mine..."

The shadow laughs, petty yet deep at first, until it grows into a full blown laugh.

"Ahhhhhh!"

Kaisuka's scream pierces the darkness.

The scream and the vicious jingle of the bell seeps through the floors and into the foundation; beyond the soil, breaking through the limestone, until it rests upon the ear of the devil underneath the building. Unpeterubed for three hundred years, he now stirs awake.

His eyes flip open, dark red pupils stare out into the folds of the coffin, his snarl echoes within his confinement.

On the top floor Kaisuka is being lowered into the evil's mouth, a crash from below stops the monster in its tracks. And another, and another, until the ground from the top floor erupts from underneath the beast.

If darkness was something to be afraid of, then the cold pierce of the vampire that stood less then twenty feet away, would have been deadly.

His red eyes shinning across blond locks of his hair, the dark cape flapping against the wind, the moon illuminating his face.

When he spoke, it seemed the world itself trembled.

"WHO STIRS ME FROM MY SLUMBER!"

The once dormant vampire looked around, from the Grey to the girl.

"TWAS IT YOU GREY?"

Silence fell from the air when the vampire roared, his fury like knives.

He moved toward the Grey at such speed, the hideous monster barely had time to retract back its arm. Only to see it being sliced by a hand with white nails, the severed limb came crashing into the floor, the vampire jumped up from his crouching position, his hand out-stretched until it grasped the throat of the once petrifying behemoth. The vampire closed his hand across the throat of the Grey, the muscles and bone in the Grey's throat could be heard crushing, its neck bending sideways slowly, its good arm letting go of the girl trapped in its fold.

The vampire gave one final thrusting squeeze and the Grey collapsed to the ground below. Bringing up the dust from the pavement around it.

Behind the vampire, Kaisuka clutches at her knees as she shakes from fear, her bell ringing into the silence. The vampire grabs his ears as if in pain, he turns around and appears so sudden, that he stood inches from Kaisuka's face, her blink could already register his movement towards her. When her eyes opened once again she could not feel the ground beneath her bottom.

"Who are you human?"

His voice calm yet deadly. His hand clutched tightly across her choker-bell to stop its annoying ring.

"WHO ARE YOU HUMAN!"

"Kai...Kaisuka!"

The devil brings her face closer to his.

"Kaisuka."

"Are you, are you going to eat me?"

The vampire's lips spread open into something that I could not call...a smile.

"The time for you to die, is not yet of venue."

Dread fills Kaisuka.

"WHAT EAR(Year) IS THIS HUMAN!"

The roar echoes.

"Claire's!"

"WHAT!"

"ITS THE CLAIR'S SUMMER SALE!!"

"WHAT!!! I SAID WHAT YEAR!"

"2007!!!!!"

Kaisuka squeaks.

"Deep sleep. Deep, deep sleep."

The vampire's eyes which were once resting upon her own starts to drizzle down to the cleavage caused by the gothic lolita wear.

(UGH! MEN! Dead or alive they only think about one thing!)

"I have slept for more then three hundred years, and yet...

His hands clutch the back of her waist.

"I have not really slept."

His free hand grazing her face.

"To feel a womans warmth next to my cold flesh."

(Um...what is he thinking...)

The devil licks his lips, causing Kaisuka to squirm in his grasp. Then with a slight look over the devil decides otherwise, almost wincing at her image.

He drops her and takes to a walk that reminds one of pacing.

"They trapped me for nearly three hundred years..."

Kaisuka could not help but interrupt.

"Who...who trapped you for three hundred years?"

The devil too lost in his own thoughts did not reply

"Though the fashion is still the same"

As he glances at Kaisuka's clothes.

"Thats nice to know my taste is still in style."

He strokes his chin in deep thought.

"Though the women now seem scrawny and pathetic."

Kaisuka rises in anger.

"WHO ARE YOU CALLING SCRAWNY AND PATHETIC?!"

The vampire bares his teeth at her, her face lights up with fright as she falls towards the ground...again.

He smirks behind the toothy smile.

"And I'm still attractive as ever I see."

As he catches Kaisuka's eyes dancing across his open chest, covered only by the cape, and her eyes fall against the smooth line from his skin. She snaps out of it fast enough to retort.

"Don't be so full of it! Who's checking you out?! huh?!"

The vampire stares at her for a moment. He takes a slight step towards her, his smirk seemingly diabolical upon his face. His movement towards her was so fast, that his image blurred behind him. His hand grasps onto the bell around Kaisuka's neck. For a moment, devil and girls eye's meet, before he turns around and proceeds to drag her behind him.

"WAH! What are you doing with me!"

Kaisuka's arms flail about her as she gets manhandeled by the devil.

"Put me down you disgusting, filthy, dirty blooded..."

The vampires face suddenly becomes distorted, he swings Kaisuka close to his face, until she could see her reflection inside of his eyes.

"Listen to me, human. I find myself in a position where you are more useful to me alive then dead, and for the moment you are under my grace to live. But I warn you girl, my patience is very thin, understood?"

Kaisuka nods her head slowly but surely. The vampire seems satisfied, he lets go of her slightly until she drops to the ground, and then continues to drag her on.

"Hey um...um..."

The vampire grits his teeth.

(Ignore the human, just ignore it.)

"Um..uhm?......the um..."

(Sub-species, sub-specIES, SUB-SPECIES)

"The um...urgh...DRACULA!"

He drops her to the ground and faces her in a crazy heap.

"Damien! My name is DAMIEN human! What do you wish to speak?!"

Kaisuka observes Damien slowly.

"The next words you sputter, should be wise human."

Kaisuka looks at her imprisoner and nods again slowly.

Damien turns back around satisfied.

"I'm hungry."

"ARGRAAAAHHHHHHH!"

The vampire lets out a roar that strikes the night peace.

"HUMAN YOU ARE..."

Damien turns his head quickly to the left, he strains his ears to listen, his super hearing locking on to the noise that disrupted him.

"What is..."

Damien cuts her off slowly with his hand.

Slithering sounds.

"One."

Creatures breaking crates as it slither over them.

"Two."

A pack of darkness behind the two larger Grey's.

"About five or six of them."

Damien looks down at his arms, the last attack on the Grey, drew his final strength from his dormant sleep of three hundred years. The next battle will have to wait until he feeds. The girl, yes the girl will be sufficient. Wait, why would Grey's track down a girl, even if one of their own was killed, this was not a group of Greys', it was an army. Damien flashes upon the girl. She didn't look like anything special.

"Why are the Grey's after you Human?"

Kaisuka opens her mouth, but her words were uttered only in mid sentence.

A Grey larger then the last, erupts from the side of the building, if the last one was large, then this one was gigantic. Its figure clung onto the whole top side of the building, its arms grasping the pillars as it hung from the last four stories.

It opened it eyes, milky white against its shadow like color. It glances from the vampire to the girl.

Its voice dark and deep, while its laugh echo's across the building.

"A vampire. And here I was to think, they've all gone extinct."

The vampire glares at the Grey.

"What do you mean, extinct Grey?"

"Eliminated by the other four groups, its only survivors now hide in fear, weak creatures you vampires are."

The Grey proceeds towards the girl.

"Come here capsule."

"WEAK CREATURES?!"

Damien roars into the night.

The Grey takes a second look at Damien, this vampire was still dressed in 17th century wear, as if he just woke. The vampire race only started becoming weak within the last hundred years, could he have been laying dormant this whole time? Was this a vampire, one to be feared? What were the chances of such an occurrence to happen?

Vampires. The strongest of all groups in the past were now nearly wiped out in the present. Its people hunted down one at a time, and their offspring, never quite learning how to feed, bad genes, even worse teachers handing down their lost arts, so pathetic that humans even gave them a disease, a disability to the now weakened breed. Porphyria. The strong die, as the weak breed, the super human strength sapped from their muscles, the fangs dulled, their senses fading, and only left with their curse, the hunger.

Damien's eyes glow red again, the nails upon his fingers extend, his power radiating around him, lifting him slightly off the ground.

The vampire was powerful, but in a dangerous state now. He no longer had energy to feed off of, so he fed off his anger. It could consume him and be the cause of his own utter destruction. Muscles bulged, where none moved for three hundred years, fangs erupted from his mouth, and darkness touched the red of his eyes.

The Grey stared at Damien for a moment in horror, this vampire was transforming, something his ancient eyes have not seen for hundreds of years. Not that just any vampire could transform, only the royal family could. Who was this vampire?

The other large Grey finally catches up to the first, upon seeing the Vampire he swipes his dark hand at him, only to feel his palm burn from the forcefield around Damien. He lands besides the first Grey, his older brother.

"Brother?"

He asks in question, hatred melting into his white eyes as they land upon the vampire.

The younger Grey that just arrived lets out shots of dark energy at the vampire, knocking into the forcefield, grazing it, over and over again. Until finally one of his beams strikes through the fild and lands across Damien's chest. The Vampire pummels to the floor below. The Grey's now seeing the moment of weakness charge towards the fallen Vampire.

"NO!"

A girl's voice rings out from the corner, her arms stretch out in front of the fallen Vampire. The two Grey's reached out, about to graze her body.

Light.

Blue light flashes from all around, covering the Grey's. Blasting them from their current striking position. Bellowing through the darkness, eliminating their cold fury. Kaisuka collapses after her counter attack upon the Grey's, her body goes limp as she falls face first unto the ground. Her eyes close, the last image she can see is that of Damien looming over her tired and limp figure.
