Skating through History!

Skateboarding all began back in the late 30's. It was inspired by surfing,  but the waves weren't always rolling they needed to find something to ride when the waves went flat. Skateboarding back then was known as "sidewalk surfing" as the maneuvers and basic principles between skating and surfing were quite similar. Skateboards consisted of  a rectangular board with four small wheels attached to the underside of the board.  The idea of sidewalk surfing quickly caught on and many surfing companies began to build, test, and carry very simple skateboards along with their surf gear. In time sidewalk surfing became extremely popular and the name was simplified to skateboarding. In 1965, a magazine  (Skateboarder's Magazine) came out advertising the newest boards and evolved into a monthly trick teaching book. In the last 45 years, skateboarding has become more advanced, more popular, and more exciting than any sport ever before.
