The Beginning

The year is 2488 and the United States has changed greatly. It has closed its' borders and is one of the only countries whose people continue to thrive and live healthy lives. Around the world countries struggle to combat diseases, wars, and crime. After most of the population was decimated by centuries of struggles against disease and crime, those left migrated to the eastern United States. States merged and some were left abandoned to the wilds of nature. What is left is four divisions of states and an area simply termed The Wilderness. The current government resides in the historic city of New York. All people in the United States are now catalogued based on their DNA.  Every man, woman, and child is entered into a nationwide database upon birth.  Failure to comply results in immediate imprisonment and banishment from the country, which is in essence a death sentence. 

This advancement in genetics and technology changed everything.  Found hiding amongst the humans were creatures of myth and legends.  Werewolves, vampires, and druids had been hiding amongst us for centuries and were now no longer able to.  Once the government learned of these beings there were herded and captured.  Imprisoned within labs their lives became living hells.  Scientists used them for genetic research looking to create the perfect humans, ones who lived for centuries and were free from disease.  Yet in their quest for perfection what they created was something far worse than the creatures that had come before.

The year was 2568 when the government deemed the scientists experiments a failure and the creatures uncontrollable.  The creatures and their offspring were to be exterminated, and all records were to be destroyed.  Some labs complied and some quietly continued their research beneath the nose of the government.  Bodies were never recovered from the rubbles of the labs, but everyone was believed to have been killed.

In the year 2608, 40 years after the destruction of the initial experiment, the government had scientists conducting research in parapsychology and nanotechnology. They were thrilled with the results of those experiments. Now 30 years later the offspring of this second phase of research are under complete control of the government.  They are the perfect soldiers and assassins, coldly efficient......or so it is believed.
