Featuring music by Mark Mothersbaugh

Hold on to your di-pees babies, The RugRats Movie CD is now playing everywhere. It also includes demos for The RugRats Adventure Game, The RugRats Movie Activity Challenge and RugRats Print Shop. Let's talk about the soundtrack first. "This World is Something New to Me" is definitely the hippest collaboration on the CD. Iggy Pop, Jakob Dylan, Beck, Lenny Kravitz, B-52's, Lou Rawls, and Laurie Anderson top the list of artists contributing their talents to this tune. Let's not forget Mark Mothersbaugh, who gets the writing/co-producing credits on this one. click

Elvis Costello lends his writing, performing (actually NO DOUBT featuring Elvis) and producing talents to "I Throw My Toys Around". Elvis Costello is the real King, do I need to say anything more? If there's going to be one song the kids play a million times it's "Witch Doctor" preformed by DEVO. It's a natural combination. "All Day" written and preformed by Lisa Loeb has a sugar coated Allanis Moresett sound that makes me want to play all day. Very nice.

Making their musical debut are E.G. Daily (Tommy) on "Dil-A-Bye", Cheryl Chase (Angelica) and Cree Summer (Suzie) combine on "A Baby is a Gift from Bob", and Christine Cavanaugh, Kath Soucie & E.G.Daily (Chuckie, Phil and Lil, and Tommy) team up for "Yo Ho Ho and A Bottle of Yum!". "One Way or Another" has Angelica enhanced lyrics and is my favorite RugRat Tune. There are plenty of dance tunes (kiddie party style) as well, such as "Take Me There", "Wild Ride", (pump up the jams for the next two) "On Your Marks, Get Set, Ready, Go!" and "Take the Train".

As for the game demos from Broderbund, The RugRat Movie Activity Challenge is by far the best demo. It has a great cartoon leader and two games (one level each) to play. Don't waste your time on the Print Shop, unless you think you really want to buy it, they're just screen shots of what you can do, no printing, coloring or playing here. I couldn't figure out The RugRats Adventure Game, but my six year old could, and she liked it. It also opens with a cartoon clip (although less polished). So, my advice on this CD is …Get it, listen to it over and over and over then play the demos for a few hours, it's going to happen anyway, but this one won't get old, although your kids may wear it out. Move over Raffi, Tetetubbies and Barney
