What Mijas can offer You

A typically Andalusian white washed village located on a mountain side, there is plenty to do here with local history museums and the many souvenir shops.

The town boasts some 2920 hours of sunshine a year and the beaches are located apart from the town. Mijas also has seven golf courses for those that would like a game whilst the women go shopping.

Mija’s industry was mostly agriculture, fishing and some farming. Vines were the main wealth of Mijas until the Philloxera plague destroyed all the plantations. There is an outdoor market in La Cala on Wednesdays and Saturdays with loads of stalls selling fresh fruit and nuts, purses and bags, clothes and gift ware, shoes and flowers.

One thing you will not want to miss is the The Burro (donkey) Taxi rank which is near the Tourist Office.  The Burro, has long been associated with Spain. For some the whole reason for visiting Mijas is to have a fun tour of Mijas on the donkey carriages.

Head up to El Compás viewpoint where you can get great views of Mijas Costa, Fuengirolas, Benalmadena and Marbella. It is a perfect places to have a break and enjoy the views.

The choice of Holiday rentals in Mijas is good. A great selection of apartments, town houses and country villas in Mijas are easy to find at reasonable prices.
