Choosing sausage

Sausages are either fresh or cooked. Kinds of fresh sausage include bratwurst, Italian sausage and kielbasa. They are described as fresh since they're simply seasoned ground meats and they are generally not cooked during processing. You must cook them thoroughly before serving. Cooked sausages however are already cooked thoroughly during processing. Wieners are a good example of cooked sausages. A superb sausage has an excellent balance of meat and fat. If it has a lot of the former, the sausage will feel dry once cooked. If there is too much of the latter, the sausage will spurt grease.

Preparing sausages

There are several methods to cook sausage. Various kinds of sausage need different preparation techniques. Fresh sausage may be cooked in two techniques: parboiled then fried or grilled, or slow cooked in the fry pan or grill. One technique that you can employ to add a distinctive taste to your fresh sausages is to parboil them in beer rather than water ahead of grilling.  Bitter beers are the ideal pair to sweeter sausages while stronger flavored sausages go well with beer that has high malt content. Onions may also be added to the parboiling liquid. If/When/When you are grilling or frying fresh sausages, you should cook them slowly with the use of medium heat until golden brown. You must never prick sausages as this will only let a large amount of the natural juices to bleed out during cooking, which will make the inside drier and reducing the flavor. Turn them occasionally to cook your sausages evenly.

Cooked sausages only have to be heated. Typically, sausages that have been cooked already can be heated through steaming by bringing a pan of water or beer to a boil. You need to remove the pan from the heat when you add the sausages. If you add sausages to boiling water, they will split. You can also bake precooked sausages, put them into a microwave, grill or pan-fry.
