Welcome Back! I am very excited about the upcoming school year. We have added a new class into the Henryville Art Department, Visual Communications. Visual Communications is computer art or graphic design. The students seem to be very excited about this course, as am I. As originally a graphic designer, this subject is very important to me, and I think your student will find it interesting as well. Students will learn to create logos, posters, brochures and even websites! Our students are benefiting from Mac computers, and I definately think this course will help them in any future career.

The Advance art students this year will be exploring even more mediums and styles in art. They are looking forward to a Louisville Zoo expereince that will teach them to draw in nature and bring back those sketches to the classroom to create a work of art. The advance class will be learning palette knife painting in oils and pointalism in ink.All of the students are excited by the mediums since they decided what to learn.

Our Introduction to art class will continue on in the tradition of learning to draw realistically. I am a firm believer in anyone can draw, it just takes patience. These students will also learn color theory and creating their own color wheels. We will finish up the nine weeks with the fabulous Mona Lisa in the style f another artist. Students choose an artisst and create Mona Lisa in the style of that artist, as well as, research and write a paper on their chosen person.
