Clinical treatment involves a number of procedures, which are applicable for both internal, as well as external hemorrhoids. The following are the commonly practiced clinical solutions to this condition:

  1. Rubber Band Ligation

This medical procedure is one of the most common in the treatment of Piles. In this, a small rubber band is placed at the base of the hemorrhoid. This band nips off the supply of blood to the hemorrhoid and it withers and eventually falls off. The treatment is used in case of internal piles only.

  1. Injection Sclerotherapy

This is another common procedure, which is involved in the treatment of piles. In this process, a chemical solution is injected in mucous membrane near the affected area. This solution then causes clogging of the veins near the area and eventually the hemorrhoids shrink and fall off. This procedure too is applicable only for internal piles.

  1. Infrared Photocoagulation

In this treatment procedure, an infrared light is directed towards the dilated veins of the affected are, in order to coagulate them. This leads to the shrinking of the piles and the condition is eventually treated. This treatment is applicable for both internal, as well as external piles.

  1. Laser Coagulation

Under this treatment procedure, an electric current is passed through the hemorrhoids. This current, which is emitted through an electrode probe, leads to a chemical reaction, which leads to the shut down of the blood supply and results in the enlarged tissue to shrink. This procedure is applicable for both internal as well as external piles.

  1. Hemorrhoidectomy

This is a procedure in which the hemorrhoid groups in the rectum area are removed surgically. The procedure is used in the most severe cases and is the last resort. The treatment is applicable for both internal, as well as external piles.
