Gulbir Madan is the Founder and Chairman of the Brahma Group, an FDI-funded investment and asset management firm focused on the Indian Real Estate sector. In Brahma, Madan brings to the table over 25 years of experience in real estate investment and development.
Madan ventured into the real estate industry at an early age. His first success came in his early 20’s when he was in the New York real estate business, handling the conversion of residential apartment buildings into co-ops and condominiums. In the 1990’s, Madan entered the investment management business.
Madan’s experience in New York real estate and his faith in the India story led to his entry into India’s real estate infrastructure.
Madan's early forays taught him that a project’s location and quality should never be compromised; a lesson that has clearly carried through to his recent projects in India. Brahma has invested in three projects at prime locations till date in the northern belt including two in Delhi/NCR. ‘Brahma City’, an integrated community development project located in Gurgaon, is an exclusive, secure, impeccably planned development that offers spacious low-rise homes, open-landscapes and wide tree-lined boulevards leading to your front door. Beyond its existing projects, Brahma continues to evaluate new opportunities with specific interest in Mumbai and Bangalore. Apart from looking at investment opportunities in new markets within India, Brahma is also looking at the Western markets as an attractive investment destination.
One of Madan's guiding principles for Brahma is a long-term focus. “I believe that it is important to make long-term commitments with a time horizon of 20 years and to design and develop projects accordingly,” says Madan. Madan believes that the company should abide by the highest of ethical standards. He says, “Succeeding generations should continue to build the business at a continuous, slow and steady pace, contribute to the community and make a difference, and not simply chase every buck that comes along the way.”
Outside of work, Madan loves spending time with his family and friends. Madan likes to travel and enjoys outdoor activities like biking and skiing. He likes to spend his leisure time playing tennis or golf. Charity comes naturally to Madan and he contributes towards the underprivileged in various ways.
