Almost anyone knows these days that coupons can help us save lots of money when paying for our groceries. But there are also coupons which aren`t so good for us as they might make you spend even more money than you typically would or you might end up purchasing products you do not really need and you buy them only because you have the coupon.

1. Buy the smallest possible size of product if using your coupon. If you own a particular coupon for $2 off, and the product`s small size will cost you $4 and the larger size will cost you $8, then purchase the smaller one. You`ll only need to spend $2 instead of $6. Purchase the larger size only when you don`t have a coupon to benefit of the lower size. Keep in mind, the target of coupons should be only to lower your spending, not increase it.

2. You should use coupons to purchase items which you typically use. If you already be planning to purchase a particular product, a coupon should be the icing on your cake. If coupons might make you buy things, which you don`t typically purchase, are you in fact saving money or spend more? The exception should only be if your coupon will have a great value or the item will be on sale.

3. Take coupons with you from different brands but for the same product. Let`s consider you might need a detergent, and you aren`t sure which brand to purchase. Take multiple coupons with you from different brands, and try to use the actual coupon for the detergent which will end up being the best possible purchase. Flexibility about the loyalty to the brand might help save some money from your grocery bill.

4. Shop at grocery stores which provide double or even triple coupons. Why use a forty-cent coupon at a grocery store which doesn`t provide double coupons when you in fact could`ve gotten eighty-cents off from somewhere else? The exception of this particular rule is that if you`ll find a certain store which doesn`t provide double coupons, but it`s really cheap generally speaking, then you can switch to this particular store,

5. Take all the coupons with when you go shopping for groceries at your local store and have them well organized in a particular file by type of brand or product. Even if you might not be planning to purchase toilet paper, the grocery store might be having a great sale on TP, and you might consider purchasing a package. The deal will be even better if you have a coupon for the product as well.
