Trap Mechanisms

Nepenthes trap intsects in their pitchers; these traps vary widely, from simple vase structure to a pitcher with"hoocks around the rim. their pray is attracted by nectar, color or rotting victoms. I have found that the pitchers attract the bugs, and then the bug drinks the nectar which makes the bug sleepy. The bug falls in the acid below and the trap closes. The acid then breaks down its meal.
