I am a betrayed spouse! I want everyone to know this. How can someone look their spouse in the eyes and say something like this? How can they repeatedly see their spouse in pain, and still turn a blind eye to it. How can they turn on their loved one and make the pain all about them?

I have read several books regarding this subject.

Not Just Friends by Shirley Glass. I really liked this book because it touched on not just the physical aspects of adultery, but also the emotional aspect. She really brought to the table, the journey that is taken from a safe marriage, to the slippery slope, and down the other side into adultery.

First Aid For the Betrayed by Richard Allen. This book was written in a first person experience by a man who's spouse

committed adultery. His perspective is so insightful and the book is full of wisdom to help you ride the roller coaster of emotions. The last section of the book as a list of websites and books and his views on them. I got so much out of this book that I actually emailed the author to thank him and tell him what I was still struggling with. He is such a caring person that he actually emailed me back and gave me some reassuring words. GREAT BOOK!

How Can I Forgive You? By Janis Abrahms Spring, Ph.D. This book is written by the same author of After The
Affair. Now on the website above, After the Affair got very mixed reviews. This book follows the same view as After the Affair but I definitely was glad I got it. The subtitle to this book is, The Courage to Forgive, the Freedom Not To. This is all I needed to see to convince me that I needed this book. I would recommend you not get this book until you have been a certain amt of time past d-day or day of disclosure. That is the day you confront your wayward spouse or they confess to you. From d-day on for almost a year, you will be in such battle of emotions that this book may not sit right with you. Also, if you do not have a remorseful spouse, it will be very hard to read some of the sections, especially the section on Genuine Forgiveness, because that entails having a remorseful spouse who is willing to work with you towards healing.
