In general, there is also no presumption that an entity is animate.An entity could be viewed as a set containing subsets. In philosophy, such sets are said to be abstract objects.

HERE ARE SOME TYPES OF GHOSTS FOR YOU
ectoplasm or a ghostly mist - a spirit or soul that has passed from this life. it transforms into a mist or vaporous state normally right before appearing as a apparition.
Orbs - a spirit or soul that can be of an animal or human that has passed from this life. there are many theories about orbs and its long and descriptive so i wont get into that.
funnel ghosts - this one is a odd and mysterious phenomenon. they are often felt as a cold spot. there are some theories about them such as that the vortex is transportation for spirits from their realm to ours. others believe that they may be spirits visiting.
shadow ghosts - they are often spotted through a mirror or at the corner of your eye. it is also seen right before it passes through a wall. some say they are demons but they really aren't. they have been detected to just be visiting spirits, just in a different color.
apparitions - this is a very rare thing to see. some psychics claim to be able to see these spirits all the time. they often appear to be disfigured or faint. spirits and demons both can appear as this. most often it is a ghost.
ghost lights - a light that glows or flashes. it is mostly seen from a distance. the colors can vary but it is mostly seen as white, blue or yellow.
demons - evil spirits of the devil that never really existed in human life. it was always a demon. in short it is here to make your life hell. it just wants to see you scared and die. it is very difficult to get rid of and often exorcism's don't work on them. they can easily posses a human and can do alot of harm to a human. if bad enough is fully capable of killing a human. sorry for the long description.
poltergeists - something that is trying to make itself known by moving objects. it normally happen in specific parts of a house such as a certain room or floor.
residual haunting - the main thing to know about this particular ghost is that it is not a ghost at all. it is simply just a recording of some event that happened there. it does not involve a ghost at all. it is definitely nothing to fear at all. some hotels and houses really enjoy having these hauntings because they are not dangerous and will do the same thing every night. never be afraid of a residual haunting
