The goal of this project is to get acquainted with the history of Jewish Immigration to the United State from Eastern Europe. The United Nations Statistics Division considers Eastern Europe to consist of the following ten countries: Belarus, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Moldova, Poland, Romania, Russia (a transcontinental country), Slovakia, and Ukraine.
Eastern European Jews, pushed out of Europe by overpopulation, oppressive legislation and poverty, began to immigrate to the United States. The primary reason for immigration was the periods of anti-Semitism and persecution that rippled through Europe. So, the history of the Jews in the United States was influenced by waves of immigration. Eastern European Jews were pulled toward America by the prospect of financial and social advancement. They achieved their dreams in the United States.
