Efendi – Fusion cuisine restaurant

Fine dining in a 400 year old ottoman house, centrally located in the old Turkish quarter of Girne run by Andy & Amy Hurn and a team of professionially trained multi-lingual staff.

Andy originally owned Efendis some 20 years ago which was then known as Rumours. Upon his return the 400 year old Ottoman house has undergone a major facelift to create a cosy ambience in the heart of Girne. It has two new bar areas, enhanced with stone arches, beams and a real log fireplace, where in the winter months you can snuggle up on a sofa with your favourite drink and friends. There is an open courtyard area for those who also wish to enjoy the sunshine.

The Menu is periodically updated and based around fusion European cuisine and each dish is lovingly cooked to order. Andy uses local seasonal ingredients fused with imported specialities to create mouthwatering dishes including "Carpaccio di Manzo, tender slices of rare prime fillet served on fresh rocket, topped with parmesan shavings & drizzled with citronette dressing. Six tiger prawns served in a spicy Thai red sauce, garlic & lemongrass. King prawns on horseback chargrilled with bacon, sweet chilli & garlic butter with fresh lemon. Poulet saumon fume, supreme of chicken roulade stuffed with smoked salmon & walnuts in a lemon & coriander sauce. Pork tenderloin tender slices of pork fillet with a cinammon & plum sauce. Seafood tagliatelle mussels, prawns, cod & smoked salmon in a cream & cheddar sauce on a bed of pasta ribbons".

This, of course, is all complemented by a great wine choice, including a selection of local and good south African brands. All other bar beverages available. An average 3 course meal for two with a bottle of wine and coffee is extremely good value at approximately 120 lira.

The bar and restaurant is open from 6pm till late Tuesday – Sunday. Closed on Monday. During the winter months Sunday lunches are available which include all the trimmings. Open from 12 noon til 5.00pm.

The restaurant covers for a maximum of 45, booking is strongly advised as there is great demand for tables, private parties can also be catered for.
