Your heart beats about 35 million times a year. Your brain is 80% water. Almost 90% of the lung is filled with air and only 10% of it is hard tissue. These are some amazing facts about the human body. The human body is like a machine; it needs all of its parts to work well together to keep it working properly. And like a machine, if one of the parts or a system of parts isn’t working well, the machine will break down. As a class you will journey on a BODY QUEST. You will take the role of the doctor. Your job will be to review the patient's history, look over the symptoms the patient is having, and diagnose the problem and help the patient feel better. You will look at the involved body systems about which the patient is complaining: the nervous system (brain), the circulatory system (heart), and the pulmonary system (lungs) and figure out what is wrong with your patient. Do a good job! Your medical careers are depending on it!
