EAST CLEVELAND PARK

A website managed by ANC Commissioner Roger Burns
Latest revision: March 31, 2010

News:
-- APOLOGY: I've been trying to organize a neighborhood meeting while I'm in recovery from the flu, sorry for the late notice about Thursday's meeting. There are various processes in play that have their own schedules and cannot be delayed, thus requiring that we hold a neighborhood meeting soon. For those who can't make Thursday night's meeting, know that we'll have additional neighborhood meetings in the future.

-- Neighborhood meeting, Thursday April 1, 7 PM, Cleveland Park Library. ANC Commissioner Roger Burns will solicit neighbors' views on a variety of East Cleveland Park issues (see below).

-- Parking issues meeting, Saturday April 3, 1 PM, Cleveland Park Library. Several ANC Commissioners will lead an exploration of parking issues near the Cleveland Park Metro stop and along CP's Connecticut Ave. commercial strip in general. This meeting will identify issues. At a future meeting in about one month, there will be a consideration of possible solutions. This second meeting may include officials from DC's Dept. of Transportation.

-- Connecticut Ave. Revitalization Project, Tuesday April 13, 7 PM, Adas Israel Synagogue near Connecticut and Quebec. This special meeting of the Cleveland Park Citizens Association will discuss the City's project for streetscape improvements and pedestrian safety for the Connecticut Ave. commercial strip between Macomb and Porter streets.

Issues Poll:

If you live in SMD 3C04 (east of Connectictut to the Park, and along Macomb, Ordway, Porter and Quebec Streets), then please comment on the following issues by writing to me at rogerburns@pobox.com. I can represent neighborhood views only if you and other neighbors tell me your views.

(1) What issues are most important to you? Please list them in order of importance.

(2) What pedestrian safety issues are important to you? (3) What streetscape improvements would you like to see along our Connecticut Ave. commercial strip?

(4) What do you see as being the most important parking issues in our neighborhood?

(5) "Cleveland Park -- Zoo"?
Some people would like to see our local merchants get more business by having Zoo tourist traffic directed through Cleveland Park, such as by adding "Zoo" to the name of our Metro stop. Others feel that adding much non-neighborhood foot traffic would lower the quality of life for local residents.
What do you think?

(6) What issues concern you regarding the alleys in back of the Connecticut Ave. shops?

(7) Business issues: what can be done to improve the economy for local businesses? How can local businesses be better neighbors to local residents?

(8) Zoning policy: some people think that we have too many restrictions on Cleveland Park businesses, others are glad that current restrictions prevent our neighborhood from becoming another Van Ness or Friendship Heights. What do you think?

Again, write to ANC Commissioner Roger Burns at rogerburns@pobox.com.
