Is there a song in your heart?

Westwind Harmony is an exciting, new, women's chorus that sings 4-part a cappella harmony in the barbershop style.... We're just getting started, and want to meet women of all voice ranges! No experience is necessary.... if you can carry a tune, we'll teach you all you need to know!

To share with others?

Westwind Harmony's mission is to foster appreciation of the American Art Form of Barbershop Harmony through education and public performance.... we'll contribute to the cultural life of the community by performing at civic events, holiday celebrations and club meetings of friends and neighbors throughout the Northwest Valley!

Come visit us! We rehearse every Monday evening from 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at:

Word of Life Lutheran Church 17525 W Bell Road, Surprise, AZ.

Please contact Jackie, our Guest Coordinator, for specific directions and to answer any questions you may have....

Cathie Sturm, Director of the Westwind Harmony Chorus, holds a degree in Music Education from the University of Minnesota and currently teaches General Music in the Deer Valley Unified School District in Glendale, Arizona. In addition to her classroom duties, Cathie directs the school choir and an annual summer drama for students in grades 4 to 8.

Cathie's musical heritage traces back decades; Her dad is a member of the men's Barbershop Harmony Society, and her mom an active Sweet Adeline for 30+ years. She sings Tenor in quartet ensemble, and with the 120-voice 2006 International Champion Scottsdale Chorus.

Cathie has a rich history of education and performance with Sweet Adelines International... and is no stranger to the International stage, earning International Chorus medals with Minneapolis' City of Lakes Chorus. Just before relocating to a warmer climate, Cathie had the thrill of performing for a season with the Minnesota Opera.

When she's not singing, teaching, tutoring or directing, Cathie enjoys furthering the vocal education of private voice students. She believes there is music in everyone, and this gift can be developed throughout one's lifetime!

Sweet Adelines International is the largest music education organization for women in the world, with over 26,000 members in the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and throughout Europe.
