Have you ever felt like the audio quality on your Android phone is not as good as it should be? Flagship devices come with the latest processors, high-resolution displays and premium high quality materials. But audio quality seems to be left behind on many cases and audiophiles are not happy about this. Mobile phones have become important pieces in our lives and most of the time we use them to listen to music.

Manufacturers put a generic driver inside their phones and call it done. Companies like HTC have tried to improve audio quality on its devices by putting two speakers. Even though volume is loud, audio is not clear.

This is when Dolby Digital Audio comes into help. If there’s nothing that can be done to improve the hardware, there are always ways to improve the software. Dolby is the most popular and recognized software in the world for improving audio quality. It is available on Windows and Android devices. Unfortunately, Dolby Atmos does not come on Android devices by default. If you want to learn how to install Dolby on your phone, you have come to the right site.

Member worstenbrood has ported the Dolby Digital software from a Lenovo device to all phones running on Android 4.3 and later. The software ported is called Dolby Atmos.

To install Dolby Atmos apk on your phone, you need a custom recovery to flash the zip file. TWRP is recommended but you can use any other recoveries. It works on all devices with Android 4.3, 4.4, 5.0 and 5.1. It has been tested on Nexus, HTC and Galaxy devices.

  1. Download the ZIP file and move it to your phone.
  2. Turn off the phone and boot into recovery mode.
  3. Select “Install ZIP from SD Card” and choose the downloaded ZIP file.
  4. Press on “Install” and reboot your phone.

Enjoy improved audio quality on your Android device using Dolby. If for some reason the program does not work, you can flash the “Uninstall” ZIP file to remove it. Also note that you should uninstall any other equalizers on your phone before installing Dolby.
