Reasonable Christianity

The purpose for this web site is my concern for the spiritual and philosophic state of people who, claiming to be wise, demonstrate the very folly which many lives are built upon.  Whether this "folly" is due to rebellion and stubbornness, ignorance, arrogance or insecurity, I want to illustrate that the measure of one's worldview is not only the truth but also the livibility of that view.  Regardless of the question of epistemology and truth, a life that is dishonest to itself is worse than the gravest infidel.

Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst.

Apologetics: Taken from the Greek word, apologia, this discipline within theology means an ordered defense.  In new testament times, this referred to the practice in the Roman court of law after the "evidence" was presented against the defendant and before the presiding official passed sentence.  Before the appearance of the defense attorney, this opportunity to speak was often the only chance   an individual could effectually lessen the severity of his sentence (women were not afforded such "luxuries" as freedom of speech).  New Testament passages which refer to this practice include 1 Peter 3:15-16 as well as Jude 3 ("contend earnestly for the faith").  Examples range from Moses before Pharoh to Stephen's martyrdom to Paul on Mar's Hill before the Stoic and Epicurean philosophers as well as his trials before governmental officials of various rank.  As with any competent worldview, Christianity, Christian Apologetics, deals with the questions: Can We Know? How Do We Know? What Exists? From Where Did We Come? And Is They Meaning?
