Oakfield Park is an LA maintained school providing high class education for young people aged 11 to 19 years who have severe or profound and multiple learning difficulties. Many of our pupils have additional complex needs including ASD, sensory impairment, challenging behaviour and physical difficulties.

Pupils attend from across Wakefield Metropolitan District.

At Oakfield Park we provide a safe and supportive school for young people with special needs. Our aim is to create an environment which is educationally stimulating with a capability to be challenging, thus providing optimum conditions for learning and development.

The school is well equipped providing excellent accommodation for pupils with disabilities including those with physical and complex needs. It is a single storey construction allowing access for wheel chairs. Students benefit from the use of a hydrotherapy pool, a multi sensory room and an independent living skills area. The school is also resourced with ICT equipment throughout.

The school is situated in a pleasant, rural setting on the edge of the village of Ackworth 8 miles from Wakefield city centre. The building is surrounded by security fence to ensure access is only allowed through the main entrance. The school has extensive grounds with a range of facilities including an area that is rich in wildlife and a natural habitat for birds and other animals. The field is marked out with two football pitches and is also used for a variety of field sports both by Oakfield Park pupils and the local community.
