The Deer Park Softball league was re-established in 1997. Since then it has been a dynamic force in the Tri-County area. We are located about 20 minutes north of Spokane, Washington, and about an hour south of Colville, Washington. We have two very well-maintained fields across from Deer Park High School, and we are trying to build two more to make a quadplex. We have lights, and we are able to have night games if needed or preferred.
We are looking for teams as well as players to help in our journey to expand our league to great heights. We have a very low team sponsor fee ($225.00), and players fees are $35. Our season begins the first weekend in May , THIS YEAR IS MAY 4TH (yes that is Bloomsday), and flows to the middle of July THIS YEAR IS JULY 20-21, when we have our round robin, double-elimination tournament. We also have a water slide for the kids, a throwing accuracy contest, a base-running contest, a cheeto toss, and of course, men's and women's home run derby. Our second season (Fall) begins the weekend after Labor day, and runs until the middle of October, with another tuornament, as well as an end-of-the-year banquet to celebrate the two seasons.
We also have a winter snow-softball tournament the third weekend in January. This is played with a large tennis ball, with colored chalk and carpet as the bases. We play in the snow, ice, & slush. We have a blast!
This year we are looking into two more tournaments. In April, to kick off our season, we are hosting a One-pitch tournament. Stay tuned for more details on that. Also, in August, between the seasons, we are looking at hosting a breast cancer tournament. Think "Swing for the Cure" type of thing. The details of that have not been discussed yet, so as soon as we have more information, we'll pass it on.
As you can see, we have a blast up here in our little city. We welcome ALL types of people. We also let kids play, at least kids over the age of 16. They must sign a consent form, along with their parents.
We support the Spokane tournaments as well, with the Spring Fling in April, and we have several men and women that play in the county leagues.
Come and check us out for a season. We only play Friday nights and Sunday afternoons, and what can it hurt? Its only two months out of the year, and I guarantee you will be hooked! We are very competitive, and challenge any and everybody to come out and see for yourself!
