Alexandria Teams Dominate

The DC Cardinals seemed to be coasting to a first game win today, leading 6-1 in the sixth inning, behind Dix, who had a no hitter going through five. But when Dix tired in the sixth, the Cardinals relief could not hold. The A's scored 5 in the sixth to tie the game and another five in the seventh, including a dinger by King. In the bottom of the seventh, the Cardinals rallied for three and had the tying runs on base, but could not quite get it done. A's 11, Cardinals 9.
The Cardinals went up first in the second game also, scoring two in the second inning. But the A's struck quickly in the bottom of the second, getting 7 runs. After the second, the teams played even, both getting two more. A's 9, Cardinals 4.
In today's other opener, the Alexandria/Arlington Senators beat the Los Toltecos Navigators 9-6, in spite of a two run dinger by the Navigators' Strumfelds, and a great catch at the fence in straightaway centerfield by Claffen. Schrager got the win going 5 innings and Sulavik got the save throwing the last two innings. Doumitt went 3 for 4 in his first game as a Senator in 3 years.
