Music has been defined for generations for what has been accomplished by those before us. The legacy of Bach, Beethoven, and Mozart were all praised in their day for their music, and still are to this very day. Their music was outstanding in terms of harnessing the raw power emotion perfectly into their music. To each his own, each musician had their own way of achieving this sanctum, but in general their works generally featured minor keys the played such a pivotal role for every musician their absence is well known  in present day. Today’s youth music scene, the music the general consensus wants to hear in America is often bland and contains what seems to be no real music innovation whatsoever. These musicians fuel off of the innovations of others they had listened to and idolized growing up. While some took it to themselves to create their own arrangements under complex key majors, the others remained carbon copies of their idols. The music scene has taken quiet a dip in quality over the last decade, as elitist as it may sound it lacks the direction to what had made it exciting. The absence of minor keys in today’s music has brought forth the idea that music is not taken as seriously as it had once been centuries ago. In this musical investigation, I will be discussing the importance over the significance of the Minor Scale how pivotal it is to music composition using examples from “Wonderwall” by Oasis and “Piano Sonata 8” by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
