How can you comply with the Regulation on classification, labeling and packaging?

The CLP regulation applies to a wide range of companies:

  • 1. manufacturers
  • 2. importers and re-importers of substances or mixtures
  • 3. producers of certain articles
  • 4. compilers and distributors
  • 5. retailers

Packaging and labeling

There are no special rules for the marking of containers when shipping to Morocco. The indication of the

net weight in kilograms and other specifications of the product may speed up the customs procedures.

Labels must be drawn up in Arabic and be provided with the country of origin.

Packaging, custom boxes and product labels must not give rise to misunderstandings about the origin of the goods. Moroccan

law prohibits the import of goods with signs or inscriptions that resemble an official Moroccan or religious sign or

inscription.

Foods

The information on the food packaging must be in French or Arabic. The following information is required:

  • the name of the product;
  • a list with all ingredients, in order of weight from large to small;
  • net quantity;
  • production date and use-by date;
  • method of conservation;
  • indication of the storage temperature (mandatory for meat, poultry,
  •  dairy, fish, ready-made meals and fruit juices, among other things);
  • name and address of the producer, packer and importer;
  • in some cases there are additional requirements.
