Committee to Elect Carolyn Boston is pleased to announce her candidacy for the Prince George ’s County Board of Education , District 6 in the 2010 Gubernatorial Election.

Carolyn is a long time resident of the Historical Town of Fairmount Heights and is the mother of two (2) daughters who are alumnus of Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS) and grandmother of three (3) granddaughters currently attending PGCPS.

Carolyn has served her community as a councilmember and Vice Chair to the Mayor of the Town of Fairmount Heights for two consecutive terms.  In addition to her community service, Carolyn has worked as a PTA Executive Board Member for over 10 years and as a School-Based Parent Liaison, advocating for parents and student issues.

I will continue to advocate on behalf of all students and parents.  The current policy on Parental Involvement should be revised to include parent advisory teams at each middle and high school to oversee academic achievement.  As a school board member, I will visit every school and attend community organization (civic associations, municipal town meeting, faith-based organizations, etc.) to obtain feedback on school related issues.  The current safety policies should be a priority.  The schools must develop partnerships with the school system’s resources, Sheriff’s Department, and County and Municipal Police agencies to ensure a safe environment for all students. Community policing must occur to further ensure safety within all our schools.  The system would be better served if all local partners would be involved to prevent incidents.

We are confident that the following list of achievements more than qualifies Carolyn M. Boston as the “Frontline” advocate for the School Board representing District 6:
