Frequently Observed Objections to Global Online Democracy

O. The internet can not be trusted for online voting.
A. This is not a petition for online voting. If the people are online then their democracy will be online as well.

O. The world is not ready for world peace. There are too many cultural diffrences.
A. Cultural differences have not prevented the USA from succeeding.

O. My country has enough problems without taking on the rest of the world's problems.
A. Your country's problems can be directly tied to a lack of world peace.

O. Democracy is no panacea and does not guarantee peace.
A. History says otherwise.

O. Hitler was elected.
A. Would you rather live in a democratic world or an undemocratic world?

O. The world is moving towards world peace naturally. There's no need to push it.
A. Freedom has never been free.

O. I like things exactly the way they are.
A. The world is a tinderbox without world peace.

O. This sounds like mob rule.
A. Dictators have been saying this for thousands of years. Shall we turn back the clock?

O. I can only support a democratic world if it comes with a Bill of Rights.
A. Where are your rights more likely to be protected, a democratic world or an undemocratic world?

O. The powers that be will never allow it.
A. We are the powers that be.

O. It's impossible.
A. The internet is a global telecommuncations system. Use it or lose it.

O. I have too much to do as it is without pursuing an idealistic fantasy.
A. My heroes have always said otherwise.

O. I'm a Christian and the Bible says the Kingdom of God is not the Kingdom of Man.
A. I agree. The Kingdom of God is not the Kingdom of Man. It is the Family of Man.

O. The system has always been corrupt and will always be corrupt.
A. Please stop endorsing corruption.

O. I'm not endorsing corruption. I'm just being realistic.
A. Is the average person corrupt?

O. No, but the average person is easily misled.
A. Who is more likely to mislead the people, the majority empowered by law or a minority empowered by force?

O. A democratic world would be anarchy.
A. An undemocratic world is anarchy.

O. I have the right to my opinion.
A. Unless you own all the guns, then your rights are in the hands of those who do.

O. I'll take my chances.
A. Evil exists as long as good people do nothing.

O. Why now?
A. If not now, when?

O. Maybe in a hundred years or a thousand years.
A. Then we can at least agree on the goal. Why wait?

O. I told you before. The world is not ready and until it is we must accept some form of tyranny in order to avoid total anarchy.
A. Do you really think the world can survive another generation of war?

O. It's not tyranny if it is leading us in the right direction.
A. How will we know when we are ready?

O. We will know we are ready when either our leaders tell us we are ready.
A. And where will these leaders come from?

O. I'll tell you what. I'll sign your petition when I see X number of people have already signed it.
A. I'll be back.

True Story

Late last year I was arrested in NJ and charged with driving an unregistered vehicle, driving with a suspended license, possession of a controlled substance (marijuana) and possession of paraphernalia (pipe). After a couple of hours in the local lockup, I was released on my own recognizance and given an initial court date a week later.

At the hearing, I requested and received a public attorney and an arraignment date was set.  When I contacted my attorney he asked me if I contested any of the charges and I told him that I did not. He told me that since I had no criminal record, he could try to work out a deal with the prosecutor.  I told him that would be fine.

A couple of days before the arraignment, I heard back from my lawyer and he told me that the prosecutor was willing to offer me an ACD which means an acquittal with consideration to dismiss. However, I would still have to pay an $800 fine and agree to one year of random drug testing. Otherwise, if I plead not guilty I was facing thousands of dollars in fines, up to one year in jail and a criminal record.

I did not know if I was guilty or not, so I asked the Lord what I should do . He told me to plead not guilty.  My lawyer had a different opinion but entered my plea and when my trial date was set for 01/11/11, he told me the date better be a sign from God.

The morning of the trial, my lawyer again asked me to take the ACD. I declined and handed him a copy of the below statement as my defense.  Unfortunately, he was not impressed and told me that I didn't have a prayer but nonetheless offered to submit it to the judge with a petition to dismiss. So that's what I did.

Long story short. Case dismissed.

A gospel according to Global Online Democracy

1 In the beginning was our promise, and the promise was with us, and the promise was justice.

2 We were in the beginning just.

3 All things came to be through peace and justice, and without them nothing came to be.

4 And so justice for all became our Love;

5 This Love shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

6 We are here by just cause.

7 We have come for testimony, to testify our Love, so that all might love freely.

8 And though we are not perfect, we know we are meant to be.

9 Now. Our true self and saviour, He who loves unconditionally, is coming into the world.

10 He is in the world, and though the world came to be through Him, the world does not recognize Him.

11 And though He has come for what is His own, His own do not acknowledge Him.

12 But to those who do, He is our word.

13 For those who answer his call are reborn, not by race nor by gender nor by greed but by Love.

14 And His spirit is real and makes His dwelling among us, and we see His glory, the glory as of a parent towards their only child, full of mercy and grace.

15 We fall before Him and cry out, " This is the one for whom we say, "He who comes after me is greater than me because He comes before me. ""

16 From His empowerment we all receive mercy and grace,

17 for while the Law was given through some, equality before the Law precedes all.

18 No one has ever seen our true potential. The only imperative, to love one another, which is in our blood, has revealed Him.

19 And this is our testimony. When you send your people to confront us,

20 We confess and do not deny it, but admit, " I am not the answer. "

21 When they ask us, " Are you a hero?" We say, " I am not. " " Do you think you're special?" We answer, " No. "

22 And when they say to us, " Who are you then, so we can give an answer to our master? What do you have to say for yourself?"

23 We say: " I am the voice of your conscience calling out under iniquity, make straight the way of equality. As I say the prophets say."

24 Then you come to us directly,

25 And ask us, " What do you preach if you are not the answer, nor a hero nor special in any way?"

26 We answer you, " I abide your true self; the part of you whom you do not trust,

27 yet who is emerging, and whose majority is our authority"

28 He is here.

29 Behold, the gift of righteousness, who takes away the suffering of the world.

30 He is the one of whom we say, "A charge is approaching who redeems me because His love is unlimited. "

31 I do not know Him, but the reason I come praising His love is that His love might be made known to everyone.

32 We testify further, saying, " I see heaven come down like a dove from the sky and remain upon Him.

33 Again I do not know Him, but the one who raised me with dignity told me, " On whomever you see a love for the People come down and remain, He is the one who will bring peace and justice. "

34 Now I have seen and testify that He is among us.

35 When we are together, He is with us,

36 And when we watch Him approach, we say to ourselves, " Behold the Glory. "

37 And we hear Him and lift ourselves up to Him.

38 And when He sees us following Him, He asks us, " What are you looking for?" We say to Him, " Master, we seek our purpose."

39 He says to us, "Come and see what you have found. " So we follow Him and discover what it means to love again, and we join Him. And at the  end of the day.

40 One of us, one who is not afraid.

41 He will find a stranger and testify, " We have found the Answer."

42 Then as he brings this stranger to Him, He looks at her and says, " You are a disciple of justice; You will be called Citizen".

43 Then we will go somewhere else, and find another Citizen and say to them, " Follow us. "

44 And though we are strangers, we love one another nonetheless.

45 And as we follow further, we will find others and proclaim, " We have found our saviour about whom the righteous wrote in the  Law and the prophets. Justice for all is a stranger no more."

46 And when it is said, " Can anything good come of it?" We say to you, " Come and see. "

47 As you approach Him, He says to you, " Here is a heart truly beating. There is no duplicity in you. "

48 And you say to Him, " How do you know me?" He answers and says to you, " Before I knew you, I saw you being true to  yourself. "

49 You answer Him, " Master, my side is your side; our union is complete. "

50 He answers you and says to you, " Do you believe in me because you know you will be rewarded? You are your own reward. "

51 He continues, " Make it so, make it so, I say to you. Every cup will overflow as the blessings of world peace shower down upon the Kingdom of Global Online Democracy. "
