Welcome
to Josh's translation service. My name is Josh Aldana. I get your
document and material translated appropriately from English into
Spanish and from Spanish into English for almost any purpose at
a single fixed and competative rate. Whether your Spanish translation
need is small or large, I am always there to assist you with your
translation needs.
So
why should I pick you over other translators or companies?
- I
offer professional translations at a single fixed rate of only
5 cents per word from the original document.
Other
translation services will charge 10 to 15 cents per word or more.
They will also take other factors into account,
such as the number words in the translated document, the complexity
of the vocabulary, and how much time they actually spend on the
translation.
You
really can't tell how much you will pay for their translation on
the spot. Do remember that a standard 8 1/2 x 11 page has about
300 words. However, a language such as Spanish often takes about
20% more words to accuretely express the same idea as the original
message in English. Some translators will charge you for the number
of words in the translated document.
How
about translation software?
There
are several reasons why professional human translations are better
than what any software can provide.
- Words
can sometime have more than one meaning, and depending on the
context of the material and the audience, only one meaning can
be the correct one. It can be very difficult for a machine to
figure it out.
- A
sound translation requires a deep understanding of the culture
of the target audience.
It
is also important to remember that there are times when the order
on which ideas are expressed can sometimes vary from one language
to another. Only a professional human translation has the skill
to determine when this is the case.
What
kind of material do you translate?
Personal
and business material that I translate includes but is not limited
to letters, manuals, e-mails, articles, brochures, bullitins, announcements,
signs, correspondence, reports, brochures, catalogues, surveys,
newsletters, etc.
Can
you translate web sites?
Absolutely.
The same 5 cent rate applies. There are to ways I can do this:
- I
can translate each page directly with the original markup language.
- You
can send me the content without the markup language and I'll return
the translation.
On
either case, please provide the total number of words. If you cannot
do that please contact me first so I can do it for you. A $3.00
dollar additional fee applies. There is also a $2.00 dollar fee
to download the site and upload it back to your server. Please contact
me for any questions.
Can
I get a discount?
Sure.
If you're a non-profit organization or if you have a high-volume
of material to be translated then you may get up to 20% off at the
moment you request a translation. If you are a
non-profit organization please contact
me before you proceed so I can make arrangements on a discount.
What
are you qualifications?
I am
a native Spanish speaker living in the border of Mexico and the
United States. This allows me to constantly interact with both countries
and cultures. I have an Associate and Bachelor's degree, and have
over 10 years of experience working as a translator and interpreter
for several individuals and small organizations.
Do
you have a sample of your work?
The
following is a translation I did for an actual article from a CNN
website, followed by my translation to Spanish. Feel free to
review and evaluate it:
Original
text:
My
coworkers are making me sick
Most
of us know that dragging ourselves to work when we're sick is a
really bad move. Unfortunately, not all of our co-workers have gotten
the memo during this cold and flu season.
"I've
been working in the financial industry for several years now and
have found, at least in this industry, that just as people are discouraged
from taking all the vacation days they have coming, they are also
frowned upon for staying out sick."
"People
seem to think that a cold -- no matter how severe -- is a poor excuse
to stay home," says Rice. "But a cold can easily spread
around the office. We pass papers back and forth to each other,
we touch things on each other's desks, we all touch the same microwave,
water machine, refrigerator handle. One cold can become 10 colds."
Translation:
Mis
compañeros de trabajo me enferman
La
mayoría de nosotros sabe que llegar al trabajo arrastrándonos
cuando estamos enfermos es una muy mala decisión. Desafortunadamente
no todos nuestros compañeros de trabajo han recibido el aviso
durante esta temporada de frío y resfriado.
Deborah
Rice, gerente de oficina de 39 años en la ciudad de Nueva
York, dice que “el problema con la cultura de oficina es que
la gente tiene miedo de ir a casa cuando esta enferma”.
“He
