38th Ward Residents’ Coalition Chalmers Park Mission Statement

Our mission is to make Chalmers Park a community campus that will serve thousands of individuals living in Philadelphia and the surrounding areas. The efforts of this organization have been to develop a better quality of life and to create a safe and friendly environment for adults and children in the community. Our goal is to provide a variety of educational, recreational and social programs and activities.

Chairperson, Ralph Wynder:

Welcome

"My love for and interest in this park is only surpassed by my love and interest for the people who enjoy what it offers. If you are not one of the thousands who have picnicked, played or watch a sporting event, jogged or raced on the track, played in the playground on the grass or performed or participated in a festival, I hope one day that growing number of people will include you. As Chairman of the 38thWard Residents’ Coalition, I welcome you to share our “vision for the future” for this ten acre piece of land. Chalmers Park is a potential diamond, sitting in the rough of North Philadelphia that represents more than dirt, grass and concrete, but the hopes and dreams of a struggling, disadvantaged community that is ready to stabilize and blossom into a haven of peace and a center for unity among races, religion, gender and age across the city and region. We welcome your interest and hopefully your support in realizing this vision. May ours, become yours as we work together to improve the health and lives of all we reach out and touch in this very realistic vision."
