Humidity
Living in a humid climate can also cause mold to grow. Mold typically begins growing when humidity levels exceed 55%. That’s why it is essential to keep the home well ventilated. A dehumidifier is a great solution for reducing the amount of humidity in the air. They can be purchased from your local hardware store for between $20 – $100. Opening windows in humid areas of the home, such as bathrooms and kitchens can also aid in reducing your homes humidity levels.

Ventilation and humidity go hand in hand. For this reason, it is essential to properly ventilate the house and all rooms within it, including the bathrooms. Keep a fan running to increase circulation throughout the home or consider purchasing a quality HVAC system.

Unfortunately, mold spores are very resilient and are present in the air at all times. Mold spores can remain dormant for extended periods of time until they find the right atmospheric conditions to thrive. If mold is disturbed, it will also release additional spores into the surrounds areas.
