Project Introduction: Ocelot

This project is about creating a Web site for an endangered species. It is required by the Web Publishing course for Sweetwater High School, of which I am a high school student.

My instructor, Mr. Lopez, provided me a list of endangered species; I then had to select the endangered species for the Web site I am going to create.

The endangered species I selected for this project is the Ocelot. The reasons that I selected this animal are because the Ocelot is a small and cute cat. The Ocelot are members of the cat family and are about 30-41 inches long and weigh 15-30 pounds. Their fur has a beautiful creamy color covered with reddish- brown spots.

Ocelots aren't like every other cat ...unlike regular cats, ocelots are carnivores. They hunt at night and spend the day resting in their brush. Ocelots live within an area of about 1 to 4 square miles. A female ocelot prepare dens for their kittens before they're born. When the ocelot is born, the mother leaves at night to hunt but during the day they spend time with their kittens. The Ocelot kitten starts hunting when they are about 3 months old, but they only hunt with their mothers. An ocelot kitten can live up to 20 years, only if their habitat is protected!

Hope you enjoy it and help us out in protecting this harmless animal.
