English Literacy and Civics (Preparation for Citizenship)

Testing and Registration:

Program Registration and Testing will take place thru Monday September 20 from 6-7:30, classes begin on September 22 and go through December 16.

NOTE: Class placement will be determined by: placenment test, instructor's assessment, and specific needs of student.

Tuition is free. However, students are expected to:

(1) commit to attending all classes for one semester,

(2) taking post-test.

All new students must be registered and tested before attending class.


Class Schedule:

Beginning Level ESL - Monday and Wednesday from 5-6:30 p.m.

Intermediate Level ESL - Monday and Wednesday from 6:30-8:00 p.m.

Preparation for Citizenship - Thursdays 5 p.m.-8 p.m.

(Students must purchase own textbooks for this class and be high intermediate to advanced level.)





*** PLEASE NOTE ***

1. Adults only.

2. No teens under the age of 17 or enrolled in regular US High School may enroll.

3. Prospective students must have a valid photo ID with birthdate in order to register.




Course includes:

  • More than 60 hours of classroom instruction
  • Focus on Civics/Citizenship
  • Speaking, listening, reading and writing
  • Individual counseling
  • Academic Support Lab




Assignments:

Assignments will be sent by email. Make sure Instructor has your email address.





Materials Needed:

  • Textbook(s)
  • Composition book for journal
  • Spiral notebook for class notes
  • 1" 3-ring binder to hold papers
  • Loose leaf paper
  • Pen and pencil
