| The
late 1990s/early 2000s seemed to be the heyday of the "game master" run
game. We game masters were real people with jobs, classes and responsibilities who in our spare time ran simulation/role playing games games. We had our trusty dice (or favorite online number generator), our procedures and our notebooks filed with handwritten records for everything in an attempt to make the digital would as realistic as possible. We spent hours putting in data line by line, character by character. We did it for our players, and we loved each one of you. But along game the instant games, with their algorithms and more realistic capabilities. I'm not bitter, they are awesome and the natural progression of life. I recommend Canis Novus and Stray Days if you are looking for a small game feel. Thanks to the wonderful players of Best in Show Game, we were one of the last (if not the last) of the old school games running, well into 2011. It was a very hard decesion to close the game, but I have started a new job, and have been unable to find anyone to help me out with the game.
