The fascination with cycling

Cycling has always been my way of relaxing during the weekends, especially after a hard week at work. My bike finance has always been a problem, because I do not usually settle with just a trip to the park. I plan to go cycling in as many countries as I can during my lifetime. Therefore, I save money every year to afford spending at least two weeks abroad and this year I will go cycling in South Africa. I know it sounds crazy, but there are many famous trails in Africa that are worth trying and I cannot wait for my trip. I love to visit the most curious parts of the world on my bike and I tend to avoid mass tourism as much as possible. I own five bicycles right now, mountain and road bikes, but in the past, things were different. At first, I owned a poor excuse of a bike and I would rent a mountain bike from time to time, if I wanted an upgrade. I like cycling in the city, it is an interesting experience, but my favorite thing is mountain biking. I started to practice mountain biking at sixteen and I have been in love with it ever since.

Almost all my paycheck goes to the mountain bike finance, because I like to purchase the latest ones. But I think that they are a good investment, because you can sell them well even after a couple of years. An expensive bike will be in a good shape even after four years and they sell well too. Compared to road cycling, mountain biking is more exciting and interesting. You can sometimes relax, and other times feel the rush of adrenaline on a mountain trail and this is what I like. Another thing that fascinates me about cycling in the wilds is the fact that you get to admire nature. I always come across animals during my trips and I have a story to tell after each and every one of my trips around the world. South Africa cycling is definitely a challenge, but it is a challenge I am ready to confront.

There are some things you have to keep in mind when planning your cycling trip. First of all, you should check out whether the region you want to explore is suitable for cycling. It is safer to go somewhere where there are cycling trails at first, then check out your other options once there. If you do not plan to carry your bike with you, you should check out the nearest point where you can rent mountain bikes. I once went to the largest natural park in Eastern Europe and I could not find a bicycle rental shop anywhere. It ruined all my plans. Another thing you have to keep in mind is that cycling, especially in the wilds, has its dangers. Besides wild animals there are also thieves you have to be careful of. For instance cycling in SA by yourself can be dangerous in some regions, because people get attacked often by thieves.
