The Religion of Rome: Christian? Let's examine some of its doctrines.

The consideration that everyone MUST belong to it for salvation:

"There is but one universal Church of the faithful, outside of which no one at all can be saved" (Pope Innocent III, Fourth Lateran Council, 1215.)

"We declare, say, define, and pronounce that it is absolutely necessary for the salvation of every human creature to be subject to the Roman Pontiff" (Pope Boniface VIII, the Bull Unam Sanctam, 1302.)

"[The Holy Roman Church] firmly believes, professes and teaches that none of those who are not within the Catholic Church, not only Pagans, but Jews, heretics and schismatics, can ever be partakers of eternal life, but are to go into the eternal fire 'prepared for the devil, and his angels' (Mt. xxv. 41), unless before the close of their lives they shall have entered into that Church; also that the unity of the Ecclesiastical body is such that the Church's Sacraments avail only those abiding in that Church, and that fasts, almsdeeds, and other works of piety which play their part in the Christian combat are in her alone productive of eternal rewards; moreover, that no one, no matter what alms he may have given, not even if he were to shed his blood for Christ's sake, can be saved unless he abide in the bosom and unity of the Catholic Church." (Mansi, Concilia, xxxi, 1739.) (Pope Eugene IV, The Bull Cantate Domino, 1441).

This is an absolute lie. The Bible tells us: Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved. Nowhere does it tell us to belong to 'a' certain religion.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Romanists are told that the pope has control of their salvation:

"The Savior Himself is the door of the sheepfold: 'I am the door of the sheep.' Into this fold of Jesus Christ, no man may enter unless he be led by the Sovereign Pontiff; and only if they be united to him can men be saved, for the Roman Pontiff is the Vicar of Christ and His personal representative on earth." (Pope John XXIII in his homily to the Bishops and faithful assisting at his coronation on November 4, 1958).

"This is our last lesson to you: receive it, engrave it in your minds, all of you: by God's commandment salvation is to be found nowhere but in the Church; the strong and effective instrument of salvation is none other than the Roman Pontificate." (Pope Leo XIII, Allocution for the 25th anniversary of his election, February 20, 1903; Papal Teachings: The Church, Benedictine Monks of Solesmes, St. Paul Editions, Boston, 1962, par. 653).

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Let's examine the 'Hail Mary' and other 'prayers to her:

The English text of the Hail Mary prayer

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee;
blessed art thou amongst women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners now
and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

Romanists who dare claim 'they don't pray TO Mary' need to take a much closer look at the above... and refrain from their lies.

The Bible clearly states … in Jesus' own words:

Luke 11:2 And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.

NOWHERE does Jesus ever say, “Pray to Mary”.

Many romanists also flatly DENY that they pray to her, as one in particular tried to do with me... when I recited the first few lines of the 'hail Mary' to him, and asked, "To whom are you praying?" his reply was 'GOD".

Other 'prayers' to Mary include the Memorare, Hail Holy Queen, etc...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Jesus also warned us against repetitive prayers, which the romanist religion recites daily, especially when fondling the prayer beads, known as the 'rosary'.

Mat 6:7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

Not only do the romanists use vain repetitions, but they use prayer beads, which are pagan in origin.

In reciting their rosary, romanists fondle the beads for each individual 'prayer' successively. The rosary consists of a number of beads in what they call 'decades' … different prayers are said while fondling each bead.

The rosary is a devotion in honor of Mary.

The Romanist religion altered the Lord's Prayer as well. They leave off the last lines of it, namely: "For Thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory, forever and ever, Amen".

Popes claiming to be God on Earth:

"The Pope is not simply the representative of Jesus Christ. On the contrary, he is Jesus Christ Himself, under the veil of the flesh, and who by means of a being common to humanity continues His ministry amongst men ... Does the Pope speak? It is Jesus Christ Who is speaking. Does he teach? It is Jesus Christ Who teaches. Does he confer grace or pronounce an anathema? It is Jesus Christ Himself Who is pronouncing the anathema and conferring the grace. Hence consequently, when one speaks of the Pope, it is not necessary to examine, but to obey: there must be no limiting the bounds of the command, in order to suit the purpose of the individual whose obedience is demanded: there must be no cavilling at the declared will of the Pope, and so invest it with quite another than that which he has put upon it: no preconceived opinions must be brought to bear upon it: no rights must be set up against the rights of the Holy Father  to teach and command; his decisions are not to be criticized, or his ordinances disputed. Therefore by Divine ordination, all, no matter how august the person may be — whether he wear a crown or be invested with the purple, or be clothed in the sacred vestments: all must be subject to Him Who has had all things put under Him." -Evangelical Christendom, January 1, 1895,  pg. 15, published in London by J. S. Phillips.

"It seems that Pope John Paul II now presides over the universal Church from his place upon Christ's cross." "Auckland Bishop Says Pope Presides From the Cross" AUCKLAND, New Zealand, SEPT. 20, 2004, Zenit.org

"All names which in the Scriptures are applied to Christ, by virtue of which it is established that He is over the church, all the same names are applied to the Pope." - On the Authority of the Councils, book 2, chapter 17

"The Pope and God are the same, so he has all power in Heaven and earth." Pope Pius V, quoted in Barclay, Chapter XXVII, p. 218, "Cities Petrus Bertanous".

"The Pope takes the place of Jesus Christ on earth...by divine right the Pope has supreme and full power in faith, in morals over each and every pastor and his flock. He is the true vicar, the head of the entire church, the father and teacher of all Christians. He is the infallible ruler, the founder of dogmas, the author of and the judge of councils; the universal ruler of truth, the arbiter of the world, the supreme judge of heaven and earth, the judge of all, being judged by no one, God himself on earth." Quoted in the New York Catechism.

-These words appeared in the Roman Canon Law: "To believe that our Lord God the Pope has not the power to decree as he is decreed, is to be deemed heretical.-I?i the Gloss "Extravagantes" o.f Pope John XXII Cum inter, Tit. XIV, Cap. IV. Ad Callem Sexti Decretalium, Paris, 1685.

.-Pope Nicholas I declared that "the appellation of God had been confirmed by Constantine on the Pope, who, being God, cannot be judged by man." - Labb IX Dist.: 96 Can. 7, Satis evidentur, Decret Gratian Primer Para.

The above are only A FEW quotes by romanist so-called  'authorities'. They are all blasphemous statements.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Other lies promulgated by the religion of Rome:

Mary was born sinless, free of original stain.

This a pure, unadulterated fallacy! In order for her to be 'born sinless', her mother, Anna would have had to have been sinless also.

What does the Bible say?

Rom 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

Rom 3:24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:

Rom 3:25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;

Rom 3:26 To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.

Mary remain ever-sinless.

This is another bold-faced lie. In fact, Mary RECOGNIZED her own need of a Savior, namely, JESUS CHRIST!

What does the Bible say?

Luk 1:43 And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?

Luk 1:44 For, lo, as soon as the voice of thy salutation sounded in mine ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy.

Luk 1:45 And blessed is she that believed: for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord.

Luk 1:46 And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord,

Luk 1:47 And my spirit hath rejoiced in God, my Savior.

Mary remained ever-virgin.

What does the Bible say?

Mat 1:24 Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife:

Mat 1:25 And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.

CLEARLY, Mary and Joseph engaged in normal marital relations after the birth of Jesus.

Mary was assumed body and soul into Heaven.

What does the Bible say?

NOWHERE does the Bible mention anything about her supposedly being 'assumed'. It DOES mention the assumption of Jesus, and the translation of both Enoch and Elijah. HAD Mary been assumed or translated, the Bible would surely have mentioned it!

Mary was crowned 'queen of Heaven' by God.

The Lord DETESTS the term 'queen of Heaven':

What does the Bible say?

Jer 7:18 The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead their dough, to make cakes to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto other gods, that they may provoke me to anger.

Jer 44:17 But we will certainly do whatsoever thing goeth forth out of our own mouth, to burn incense unto the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her, as we have done, we, and our fathers, our kings, and our princes, in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem: for then had we plenty of victuals, and were well, and saw no evil.

Jer 44:18 But since we left off to burn incense to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her, we have wanted all things, and have been consumed by the sword and by the famine.

Jer 44:19 And when we burned incense to the queen of heaven, and poured out drink offerings unto her, did we make her cakes to worship her, and pour out drink offerings unto her, without our men?

Jer 44:20 Then Jeremiah said unto all the people, to the men, and to the women, and to all the people which had given him that answer, saying,

Jer 44:21 The incense that ye burned in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, ye, and your fathers, your kings, and your princes, and the people of the land, did not the LORD remember them, and came it not into his mind?

Jer 44:22 So that the LORD could no longer bear, because of the evil of your doings, and because of the abominations which ye have committed; therefore is your land a desolation, and an astonishment, and a curse, without an inhabitant, as at this day.

Jer 44:23 Because ye have burned incense, and because ye have sinned against the LORD, and have not obeyed the voice of the LORD, nor walked in his law, nor in his statutes, nor in his testimonies; therefore this evil is happened unto you, as at this day.

Jer 44:25 Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, saying; Ye and your wives have both spoken with your mouths, and fulfilled with your hand, saying, We will surely perform our vows that we have vowed, to burn incense to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her: ye will surely accomplish your vows, and surely perform your vows.

Jer 44:26 Therefore hear ye the word of the LORD, all Judah that dwell in the land of Egypt; Behold, I have sworn by my great name, saith the LORD, that my name shall no more be named in the mouth of any man of Judah in all the land of Egypt, saying, The Lord GOD liveth.

Jer 44:27 Behold, I will watch over them for evil, and not for good: and all the men of Judah that are in the land of Egypt shall be consumed by the sword and by the famine, until there be an end of them.

Jer 44:28 Yet a small number that escape the sword shall return out of the land of Egypt into the land of Judah, and all the remnant of Judah, that are gone into the land of Egypt to sojourn there, shall know whose words shall stand, mine, or theirs.

Jer 44:29 And this shall be a sign unto you, saith the LORD, that I will punish you in this place, that ye may know that my words shall surely stand against you for evil:

Mary is the co-demptrix.

This is pure fallacy! Nowhere does Jesus even remotely suggest that Mary be His 'assistant' ..... HE needed no assistant!

What does the Bible say?

Mat 1:21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

Notice the emphasis on HE.......... nowhere does the Bible claim Mary will ever ASSIST. JESUS NEEDED NO ASSISTANT!

Mary prevents God from punishing those who follow her.

Romanists falsely believe that Mary can tell God what to do, and that God will do as she wants. They are led to believe that Mary can make God change His mind.

What does the Bible say?

Jer 11:22 Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts, Behold, I will punish them: the young men shall die by the sword; their sons and their daughters shall die by famine:

Jer 11:23 And there shall be no remnant of them: for I will bring evil upon the men of Anathoth, even the year of their visitation.

Jer 21:14 But I will punish you according to the fruit of your doings, saith the LORD: and I will kindle a fire in the forest thereof, and it shall devour all things round about it.

Isa 3:11 Woe unto the wicked! it shall be ill with him: for the reward of his hands shall be given him.

Hos 4:9 And there shall be, like people, like priest: and I will punish them for their ways, and reward them their doings. Hos 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.

Hos 4:7 As they were increased, so they sinned against me: therefore will I change their glory into shame.

Hos 4:8 They eat up the sin of my people, and they set their heart on their iniquity.

Hos 4:9 And there shall be, like people, like priest: and I will punish them for their ways, and reward them their doings.

Isa 24:2 And it shall be, as with the people, so with the priest; as with the servant, so with his master; as with the maid, so with her mistress; as with the buyer, so with the seller; as with the lender, so with the borrower; as with the taker of usury, so with the giver of usury to him.

Isa 24:3 The land shall be utterly emptied, and utterly spoiled: for the LORD hath spoken this word.

Rev 6:17 For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?

Mary promised to redeem souls from Purgatory, and those who wear the brown scapular will never go to Purgatory.

In the first place, 'purgatory' does not even exist. This is simply an invention of the religion of Rome. The romanists' insistence that it does exist merely serves to prove their unbelief that Jesus accomplished ALL when He died on the cross.  Romanists don't believe Jesus accomplished everything He was to do, therefore, their false doctrine of 'purgatory' was invented in order to make romanist members believe 'they must be purged of all unconfessed sins before being allowed into Heaven'. In other words, in the romanist doctrine, Jesus failed...

What does the Bible say?

There is absolutely NO mention of an imaginary place known as Purgatory in the Bible.  It DOES, however, prove it does not exist:

Heb 9:24 For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us:

Heb 9:25 Nor yet that he should offer himself often, as the high priest entereth into the holy place every year with blood of others;

Heb 9:26 For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.

Heb 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:

Heb 9:28 So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.

So much for the glory of the purgatory story!

Mary leads the faithful to Jesus.

She does nothing of the kind. She is DEAD. JESUS, being our Intercessor, allows US to come directly TO HIM without the middleman, namely, a romish priest.

What does the Bible say?

Joh 6:44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.

Joh 6:45 It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me.

Joh 6:46 Not that any man hath seen the Father, save he which is of God, he hath seen the Father.

Joh 6:47 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.

Joh 6:37 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.

Jesus had no siblings.

What does the Bible say?

Mat 13:55  Is not this the carpenter's son? is not his mother called Mary? and his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas?
Mat 13:56  And his sisters, are they not all with us? Whence then hath this man all these things?
Mat 13:57  And they were offended in him. But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honor, save in his own country, and in his own house.

Romanists invariably insist that the above-named people were 'cousins' of Jesus, not brothers and sisters! Or, they will claim they were offspring of Joseph's from another marriage.

Jesus is re-crucified over and over again, albeit in an 'unbloody manner' every time the Mass is said.

What does the Bible say?

Heb 10:10  By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
Heb 10:11  And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins:
Heb 10:12  But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;

Romanist priests declare 'they have the power to call Jesus down and be re-sacrificed again and again and again. More blasphemy.

Jesus instituted the Mass at the Last Supper.

What does the Bible say?

Absolutely nothing about any 'mass'! The Last Supper WAS the last supper our Lord Jesus shared with His disciples just before His crucifixion.

Jesus declared Peter to be 'the Rock' and made him the first pope.

What does the Bible say?

Nothing at all about Peter being a rock!!!  Jesus said, " You are Peter".

He also said, "Upon this rock I shall build my church, and the gates of Hell shall not prevail against it".

He was speaking of HIS CHURCH, not the manmade romanist cult.

JESUS IS THE ROCK, as many, many Bible verses prove.

Jesus founded the Roman Catholic Church.

What does the Bible say?

Nothing at all about Jesus founding the romanist religion!! This is purely more fallacy and lies on the part of the romish religion. In fact, the words 'roman catholic' appear NOWHERE in the bible, not even the romanist's 'Douay Rheimes' version!!

Prayer to Mary is proper, acceptable, and encouraged.

What does the Bible say?

Luke 11:2  And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.

NOWHERE in the  Bible is prayer to Mary even mentioned, let alone encouraged. This is merely another false romanist doctrine.

Mary procures the salvation of those whom Christ has rejected.

What does the Bible say?

Luke 12:8  Also I say unto you, Whosoever shall confess me before men, him shall the Son of man also confess before the angels of God:
Luke 12:9  But he that denieth me before men shall be denied before the angels of God.
Mary has no say in who gets saved. She's DEAD. Aside from that, she is not worthy to accept or reject, AS JESUS IS WORTHY.

Jesus needs no assistant.

Our salvation is dependent upon the good works we do in life.

What does the Bible say?

Rom 10:9  That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Eph 2:8  For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Eph 2:9  Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Eph 2:10  For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

Being saved, we will naturally perform good works AS GOD has predestined us to do. Our salvation is NOT based on the merit system of romanism!

Apart from the Roman Catholic church, there is NO salvation.

What does the Bible say?

Eph 2:8  For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

Joh 14:6  Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

NO specific 'church' is ever mentioned, since it is JESUS WHO SAVES!

The pope is the VICAR OF CHRIST on Earth.

What does the Bible say?

No 'pope' is ever mentioned in  the Bible, let alone Jesus needing a stand-in!

The priest has the power to make the elements of the Communion transform into the actual body and blood of Jesus when he says the words, "Hoc est corpus meum".

What does the Bible say?

Mat 26:26  And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body.
Mat 26:27  And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it;
Mat 26:28  For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.
Mat 26:29  But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father's kingdom.

It is blatantly obvious that Jesus spoke FIGURATIVELY here. Romanists insist He spoke literally, which is a lie.

People can be prayed out of Purgatory by the faithful.

What does the Bible say?

Absolutely nothing about the imaginary 'purgatory'. It is simply a romanist invention made up to let on that Jesus left some things unfinished when He died on the cross.

Plenary Indulgences can be obtained through certain prayers and works, which reduce time spent in Purgatory.

What does the Bible say?

indulgences are not mentioned either!

They are merely another romanist invention to dupe the members.

The priest has the power to forgive sins and absolve.

What does the Bible say?

Heb 10:11  And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins:
Heb 10:12  But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;

Heb 10:17  And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.
Heb 10:18  Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin.

NO mere earthly priest has such power, and to claim so is blasphemy.

1Jn 1:9  If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Auricular confession is biblically commanded.

What does the Bible say?

Jas 5:16  Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

1Jn 1:9  If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

The verse says confess FAULTS ..... it says nothing about confessing to a sinful priest!

GOD forgives.......... not a mere human priest, who is just as sinful as those from whom they hear their 'confessions'.

The Hail Mary prayer is taken directly from the Bible.

What does the Bible say?

The Bible says nothing about any special prayers to Mary, let alone say she is worthy to receive prayers.

The romanist religion merely took a few words from the Bible, just enough to make it 'look' good -- and added the rest.

The Patron Saints are worthy to hear and respond to prayers of the faithful.

What does the Bible say?

So-called 'patron saints' are not even mentioned in the Bible! Patron saints are nothing more than a romanist invention, and an excuse for furthering false prayers. After all, they claim that despite being born over a thousand years before the invention of the computer, Saint Isidore of Seville has been named the Patron Saint of computers ! My, my! They also have  a 'patron saint of television', namely 'St. Clare.... it was claimed that on February 17, 1958, Pope Pius XII designated her as the patron saint of television, on the basis that, when she was too ill to attend a Mass, she had been miraculously able to see and hear it on the wall of her room.

Talk about superstition and lies. The romanist religion is nothing but pagan. It lies to its congregations, and fully expects them to believe those lies.

Remember the Inquisition... the hideous tortures and methods of murder they used could only have been invented by one individual ... Satan.

The Book of Revelation wisely advises:

Rev 18:4  And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.

Dear Roman Catholic followers, please heed and be TRULY saved by Jesus.
