Chapter 6: Creating a Web Page

Web Page Editors

KompoZer:
Researching the different type of web page editors I decided to do the KompoZer software for my first one. I did this basically because we had to download and install it onto our computers so I figured I should learn about this program first. KompoZer is awesome its an easy to use web page editor made for people with average computer experience to create web pages in a relatively short amount of time and with ease. Obviously this is a free program making it a perfect program to develop small websites and current web design techniques.
Limitations that I have read from reviews of actual people that have actually tried this program out is that you need prior knowledge of HTML, the HELP file isn't that helpful on how to use the program, and I found someone was having trouble to install it. Along with the people who had these limitations, there was also a lot of people who said they had no problem using the program and that they liked it. It seems to me that the people that know computers to a certain degree had no problems with this program and for the people who are totally new to this struggled a little but not to the point where they couldn't achieve what they wanted to do. Overall I think that this is a very user friendly program and could really help teach about making basic web pages.
Dreamweaver:
Dreamweaver is a program where you can create world class websites and applications. This software unlike the Kompozer program is designed for people who are more comfortable on computers like web designers, web developers, and visual designers. This program features CSS implementation tools, integrated coding, support for leading technologies, learning resources, and many more. This is a very user friendly program with tools to help guide you through making a world class website.

Limitations that I have found in my research for Dreamweaver to be surprising. I found that a lot of people struggle with software compared to the more user friendly Kompozer. People had questions and complaints about size limitations of different applications, file name limitations, masking limitations, etc. All of these limitations make it that much more difficult for users to use making it not as liked of a product like Kompozer. Overall compared to the Kompozer program this one wouldn't be good for someone who doesn't really know how to operate a computer that well, it seems like it would be a lot harder for newer computer users to comprehend this program just by reading what the users have had to say.

XSitePro:

The last web page editor I decided to do is XsitePro. I did this program because it has a ton of features that I think would make this program the easiest out of the three to use. Some of the features that this program has includes: hundreds of professional templates, flexible layout form, backup and restore, easy integration of videos, spell check, and the list goes on. All of these things are there to help the user complete his/her task in the least amount of time.

A huge limitation to this program is the cost of it. Whenever I want to get something like this I always try and get it for nothing. That is what I liked about the Kompozer program, that it is free and user friendly. This program is basically perfect finding barely any limitations, but I did find another minor one that has been acknowledged. They found that the code design for HTML for example was out of place making it a little limiting. Overall I would say that this is the best and most user friendly program of the three, and even though it costs money for it, it is buy far in my opinion the best program.
